Copper question

I have limes cooking in a copper pan on the stove as I write and urgently

need to know if I can leave them in the pan overnight before cooking the

again the next day with the sugar in, to make my marmalade.

 

The acid overnight in the copper was of concern to me.

 

A speedy response would be appreciated.

I would personally not put acid in a metal vessel overnight it will not taste

good you will really be able to taste the metal.

you would get a lot of copper in your diet though
