Guest guest
In my opinion Vaidyas bickering amongst themselves about technical points of Ayurveda in a public forum is nothing but pure ego and is harmful to Ayurveda. What can an ordinary person think about this forum if every time one Vaidya makes a point others join in to contradict it. There are several people here that seem to think they are the last word in Ayurveda and everyone else should be corrected, this is confusing to the general public and to students. I think if Vaidyas want to have a discussion on technical points it should be posted to a professional group and not to a group open to the general public. I enjoy reading the different Vaidyas and have enjoyed Vaidya Upadhye's postings and am very disapointed that some other's seem to want to negate his viewpoint. Why isn't he welcomed here? Is this a special club? I think an attitude of inclusion as opposed to exclusion is what Ayurveda needs otherwise it looks like a crazy mixed up mess of big egos fighting to find out who is right. I find too much ego in Ayurveda as it is why encourage more? Physicians should heal themselves. Guest guest
Liz, Do you mean to say that whatever wrong comments about Ayurveda may be said, they should be accepted just because they are enjoyable when reading? Do you wish to get your knowledge about Ayurveda through wrong opinions? Do we discuss all and sundry and wish that it should be accepted as Ayurveda? Is it wrong to prevent the readers of this forum from being misguided in the name of Ayurveda? Is correction and instating original views of Ayurveda unwanted? If correction is confusing, what is the correct way to know things properly? The authority always has a command over the subject, and if others feel that the person is thinking that he is the last word in Ayurveda, then you should study Ayurveda and verify his stand or negate him if he is wrong. And understand Ayurveda in its true sense, not just accept anything in the name of Ayurveda and degrade it. Attitude of inclusion should not accept deviated and wrong versions of Ayurveda. May real Ayurveda prevail Dr.D.B.Muzumdar ______ In my opinion Vaidyas bickering amongst themselves about technical points of Ayurveda in a public forum is nothing but pure ego and is harmful to Ayurveda. Guest guest
To me Ayurveda is much more than what is written in any texts and taught in any university or school. Charaka, Shuruta etc left us a great legacy but they also were students translating something left to them by far greater people. In the end the best Ayurvedic practitioners are those that have the innate skills to connect with the teachings on an inner level, as was originally the case. Everyone else is simply scrapping the surface, and if they are not careful will simply be caught in the dogmatic interpretation of it. How many Vaidya's today endeavour to make this inner connection, to practice as in the days of old? Ayurveda could be in danger of become something similar to a fundamental religion if we are not careful. Better to listen to what people have to share with an open mind, perhaps they are right, but even if not they are endeavouring to learn. No one has a right or can judge another in this. Until we have this inner insight ourselves we would be wise to look at Ayurveda on the one hand as the gift passed down to us, and on the other hand with an open mind, willing to explore and understand from the learning and research of today also. Nothing ever stays the same, everything is evolving and changing. Then slowly we may sharpen our own insight with experience and true understanding and perhaps connect to this inner truth which can never be written. It can be a tricky balance. It is a blessing to be able to read and share with you all, from where ever you come, when you genuinely are willing to share.
