Guest guest
Hi...I have a 65-year old friend who has arthritis in her fingers. She is a very healthy and fit person who lives a balanced lifestyle, yet the joints in her hands are often ruddy and hot, and the fingers swell and are painful. Is there a specific Ayurvedic treatment regime for arthritis in the fingers, or is this something you can only treat individually and more specifically? Thanks for your help, anyone! Guest guest
Arthritis, where ever it strikes in the body, local swelling and pain (attended by heat sensation sometimes) in the fingers was always noted by this author. The starting of Rheumatism (Aamvata not osteo/sandhigat vata) was seen to be accompanied by tiny water retention in part of the fingers, slightly below the nails. slight reddening/darkening on skin was also noted. Irespective of whether the pain existsed in feet, heel, ankle, knee, hip joint, vertebrae, shoulder or elewhere. While arthritis in old age is very common, notable exceptions are being observed these days. A girl 15 year old and another 22 year old with knee pain also had pain and stiffness in fingers. All the cases were treated using patient specific regimes, which involved panchkarma in the form of Bastis only. The treatments lasted upto 5 weeks, with two vacations each one week in between. Pancggavya medicines offer miraculous rapid cure in such cases. Most of these cases treated more than two years ago and no pains have returned after the treatments. While they had come after allopaths tried their best, none of them went back to to modern science to confirm " CURE " . In all cases, local swellings on the fingers vanished after the treatments, even when arthritis presence in the form of pains elsewhere. This indicates, fingers and nails are for Vaidyas for quick diagnosis, when combined with pulse and other marma checks. The Sujok therapy assumes whole body to be present in a miniature form in the fingers. The correspondence theory was extended to ayurveda here. The arthritis pains in knees can be reduced in a minute if fingers are given accupressure treatments. The hidden energy channels, opioid like chemicals released by nervous system are the key elements in the pain reduction. This is where integration of ayurveda and other alternative sciences was exploited for diagnosis. The correlation between the herbal protocol and the color of the swellings, extent of the swellings was arrived at by dohs-dhatu theory. Swellings, skin tags, dark patches, erruptions, rashes are all calling attention of the vaidya. _________ a 65-year old friend who has arthritis in her fingers.
