Guest guest
Until the last few years, I have not had any health problems and then I stared having problems with my hair falling out on top, and growing on my face, unable to lose weight around my waistline, bad memory and concentration, etc.. In December of 2005, I had my hormone levels checked ( I am now almost 48 yrs old) and they said that my estrogen levels were really low. I asked for natural hormones. They prescribed estodial, spriolactone, and prometrium. I've been taking these for a little over 2 years. I've held jobs that ranged from standing in one place all day to walking alot, for 4 years I drove as a bank courier until last year. About a year and half ago, I started having problems with my feet burning and I was noticing that my varicose veins looked worse than usual, so I went to the doctor. At the time she didn't think it was my veins, so they did a complete blood work on me and checked my cholesterol and my blood sugar levels. My blood sugar was fine..but my cholesterol was 325 and my triglycerides were 1085. I try to exercise pretty regularly, but in the 2 or 3 months before that I wasn't very consistent with it and I was drinking alot of cappucinos during that time and sometimes in the evenings I was drinking an alcholic drink calld " fuzzy navels " . I guess all of this helped to make things worse. They prescribed neurontin and I took it for awhile and then the pharmacist that I was using at the time, started giving me a a different colored capsule in my prescription,(he said it was a different distributor) and it didn't work as well so I stopped taking it. ( I hate meds and won't take them , if I don't have to). My feet did ok(much better anyway) for a little while and then they started to get worse then. Early on during this time, I showed my legs to my doctor again and she agreed that some of the veins looked like they needed to come out. I had a vein in my ankle that looked like bubble and one in the back of my leg that looked so bent it protruded, and I had other bad veins as well. She sent me to a specialist...In October of 2007, I had the surgeries (2 of them, one on each leg). With the exception of getting the bad veins out, I'm not sure how much it's helped..I wear support hose every day and sometimes at night depending on my legs and feet..sometimes I have to put them back on because it is the only way that I can rest...I put my feet up as my much as I can when I am sitting. During the 2 months that I was recuperating with the exception of feeling like I had something really tight in the arch of my right foot..with the exception of that, I didn't have any neuropathy in either of my feet until I came back to work. The first day back at work, it flared up that night...Mostly at night is when I have it..Although sometimes it flares during the day too. I exercise most days..I walk in the pool at the wellness center where I am a member...sometimes I swim a little too.. Sometimes I walk a little in the mornings too..I intend to add more walking time in the morning..I just started yoga in the mornings and I am thinking taking tai chi classes. Any idea if these things will help? My diet is (mostly) pretty good. Not perfect though..I still occasionally stop and grab fast food, a Whopper with cheese..but not on a regular basis.. I eat dark green leafy salads most days, usually with spinach leaves added to the mix and I eat other greens and some cruciferous (cabbage and broccoli). I've recently started to eat more onions too and other vegs. I've started trying to eat more fish. I'm striving for a few times a week. I've changed from Kraft 3 Cheese Ranch dressing light(was my favorite) to Olive Oil Vinagraitte. I eat whole wheat and whole grain breads at home and out unless I can't get anything else with is VERY rare. I do eat scrambled eggs (free range) for breakfast pretty regularly. I was eating Kashi cereal to which I added wheat germ, millet, golden flax seeds, but I was getting really bad gas and I stopped because I thought it might have been the kashi.I'm going to start eating it again and see. Ieat beans to, motly pinto. I try to eat an apple most days. I eat chicken, turkey, beef(no pork), I eat lamb occasionally (when I can get it :-) ). I don't eat anything fried anymore and if I saute anything it is in either olive oil or butter. I ate margarine for years, and in the last couple of months switched to organic butter. I still eat a variety of cheeses, but try to get organic goat cheese and soy cheeses when I can..I also drink milk skim cow sometimes, and try to get goat when I can..I also drink a good bit of light soy milk.. I drink a glass (sometimes 2) of wine most evenings for my circulation. I also taking vitamins, several. fish, borage, flax oil in a combination capsule form, vit E, vit C, zinc, alfalfa, dandelion root, kelp, and garlic..I alse recently started takin CO Q10. Any ideas of things that I should change or things I should be doing etc? I would greatly appreciate it. I 've always wanted to be healthy and have been mostly..until recent years..getting older I guess and it seems to get harder and harder..Thanks...
