Pubmed and similar references get produced by looking at the disease through a microscope: a set of symptoms and a set of malfunctions in the body. Doubt that adrenal fatigue is not cured by ayurvedic treatment is due to limiting the view to just herbs and formulations. The glands are parts of nervous systems and they are more connected to our energy body. This opinion is driven by experience on few patients where marma massage on few points could yield the results which herbs and panchkarma could not obtain. Thousands of people suffer from constant fatigue that is not relieved by rest and sleep. This is the main symptom of adrenal exhaustion. Similarly, majority of women in child bearing age suffer by PCOS, the main symptom of which is the irregular and scanty periods. An indicator of tired ovaries, or deficiency of ovary driving hormones. Obesity is mainly driven by deficiency of thyroid hormones, an indicator of overworked thyroid gland. Diabets is caused by tired or exhausted pancreas, another endocrine gland. Is it correct to assume that all these diseases are different? Endocrine glands always work in a symphony. The misbehaviour or underfunction of one glands puts stress on all others. That is why we find that diabetes and pcos, diabetes and obesity, pcos and constant fatigue are all existing more or less together. Modern science treats these as different diseases and produces different symptom suppressing drugs too. But what if all these disorders could be traced to single set of causes, a single medicine/lifestyle change would be adequate to cure all the problems. If one examine the file " early diagnosis of diabetes, pcos " in the file section, several herbs are mentioned that address the conditions related to diabetes, hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. names are different, but underlying dynamics is same. exhaustion of the endocrinal gland by stress. Why? reduced energy supply to the gland. Amongst the glands adrenals are most important as they are essential for life, whether we reproduce or not. Since they secret a number of hormones and thus regulate our ability to respond/adopt to stress they are most important. A few of these hormones (adrenalin and cortisol) activate our fight-or-flight response, increasing the amount of glucose or sugar in the blood, raising blood pressure, and promoting increased energy production. Addrenal exhaustion can be a result of a trauma, which also causes anxiety and panic attacks(APA). the symptoms for APA and adrenal exhaustion are similar. Low blood pressure, low blood sugar and other signs associated with adrenal burnout are also found for people suffering from APA. What does this indicate? Just many names for some common conditions, and associated different treatments. The reasons other than trauma, could also be drug induced gland exhaustion; in such cases one has to resort to yogic techniques only. examples of drugs which induce gland exhaustion are: Inhalers and other respiratory medications Herbal remedies such as Ma huang and ephedra High blood pressure medication (ACE inhibitors and Beta blockers cause several side effects which are similar to anxiety-panic symptoms, especially breathing difficulties). Withdrawal from alcohol ADHD medications (Ritalin, Adderall, Dexedrine) Withdrawal from benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Restoril, several drugs ending in " zepam " can also be classed here.) Caffeine and other stimulants Drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and amphetamines Over-the-counter medications such as decongestants Steroids such as cortisone and prednisone Weight loss products Hormones (Birth control pills, Thyroid medication) And to mention the traumatic events, family conflicts, separation from a loving spouse or family members, inadequate support from parents, anxious parents are also possible. Treating self as powerless and rest of the world as threatening enemy is pessimistic view which can precipitate gland exhaustion. It may also have its roots in early life abuse or developmental trauma. Trauma in infancy, early childhood or the development of puberty can lead to a pervasive and lasting sense of helplessness that can develop into gland exhaustion in later life. Author used simple herbs such as ginger, garlic, medha herbs which include aswagandha, licorice, shatawari, musli, vidarikand, brahmi, Vacha, Jatamansi, Shankhavali, panchgavya medicines, panchkarma to solve the gland exhaustion, be it obesity problem, PCOS problem, or constant fatigue syndrome. the efficasy of the herbs in seemingly different conditions surprised the author, which led him to trace that root cause in many of these conditions was stress. Stress led to bad lifestyle, which induced systemic candidiasis leading to food cravings, lack of control on accumulation of fat mass at the trunk, reduced liver function and corresponding dhatu building activity. Truncal obsity caused reduction of breathing, and author feels that it is the oxygen in the blood that controls the final gland health. This view is supported by yogic theories, where glands are connected to chakaras and chakras are energised by breathing techniques, meditation. In your particular case, adding Shatawari to Aswagandha and licorice will be helpful. Since adrenals are conected to Muladhar Chakra, the lord of this chakra is Ganesha. Ganesha likes Coconut and Jaggery. So also Red color. Try eating coconut along with Jaggery. Many common practices have hidden remedies inside. Red color fruits will also help. To pacify adrenals is also possible. Durva, a kind of grass offered to Lord Ganesha, is helpful to cure acne arising from excess testosterone or androgenism. Ayurveda is not based on the type of research modern science conducts. It is futile to search PUbmed references. Ayurveda is a descending knowledge, and is spread across so many texts, some of them not being classed under ayurvedic texts; e.g. Garud Purana. Guest guest
Most exercises that work on the 2nd and 3rd chakra are excellent for the adrenals. Abdominal strengthening exercises are also good. One specific exercise is the Half Spinal Twist. GB ____________ I sincerely doubt if anyone here has succesfully cured adrenal fatigue through ayurveda treatment alone, this is a modern stress disease. Of course adrenal fatigue was probably also experienced in past ages, ie. soldiers in war under extreme pressure.
