Guest guest
Hi All Vaidyas, I stay in Australia and the winter has just begun in this country. Although this is not the coldest country the winter here is pretty bad for Indian blood. My toddler (turning 3 soon) falls sick almost every winter. She has a tendency to throw a fit when the temperature rises suddenly. So, I want to try my best to avoid fevers. I am slightly confused about dressing her in winters. At night she has a habbit of taking her blanket off in her sleep, as all kids do. So I try to put a jumper on her. But if I put a jumper on her, she becomes hot. I am bit confused of what to do. The room heater also does not seem to be a good option as the heaters only dehydrate the environment leading to other issues. My questions are - Is it normal for kids to get hot if we wear extra warm clothes on them? - Will this lead to fevers? - How best can I dress her to avoid this fear of winter fevers? Hoping to get some help from you all. Thanks in advance. Ananya.
Guest guest
I have noticed that children in sleep will be warm - if they are cold they will sleep curled up so we should observe this and put a blanket - do not worry about that too much. Fever comes also from a couple things 1. children under the age of five have a bit lower immunity and tend to fall ill . Due to ama or toxins she may be getting sick So you want to improve her immunity. In Australia there are many herbalists and herbs available - there is also local herbl medicine practiced by aboriginal people. They would have traditional immune rememdies local to the country. But you would want to note a few things how is her bowel function - if she ins constipated you want to change that - give her triphala 1/2 spoon and honey in a glass of boiled milk before bed. Add slypery elm 1/2 spoon to aplle sauce and give her If she has regular bowel movements her immune system will be strong Apply oil and massage her daily to improve the strength and stamina of the entire body - sesame oil is best rub her with a bit of force and then give her bath give head bath two times a week Tuesday Friday and make sure to dry her head well with a towel after that especially the base of the head that joins the neck Make sure she eats berries, citrus and plenty of protein and yogurt (home made or with live bacterial culture) All of this will help her become stronger TTry to give seasonal foods Do not give cold foods in the winter Ice cream, cold water and juice etc shuold be omitted to ensure good health --------------------------- I stay in Australia and the winter has just begun in this country. Guest guest
Ananya The current research for influenza supports the notion that the the infectants " work better " in cold environments, thus Australia. So temperate climates and colder are better for the viruses. Dressing would have little effect. The toddler knows what temperature works for them. Work on the immune system. Here is an article link. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/05/health/research/\ 05flu.html?ref=todayspaper GB __________________ She has a tendency to throw a fit when the emperature rises suddenly. Just one clarification - what does next statement mean? - Due to ama or toxins she may be getting sick __________________ Fever comes also from a couple things 1. children under the age of five have a bit lower immunity and tend to fall ill . Guest guest
HI Ananya! Ama in ayurveda means undigested materials. If somebody's digestive power is not up to the mark, whatever is ingested in the form of food does'nt get digested properly, leaving undigested, partially digested materials circulating in the body. This ama is non conducive to the body and hence the cause of many diseases _______________ Just one clarification - what does next statement mean? - Due to ama or toxins she may be getting sick
Guest guest
I would use Ferrum Phos 6x the cell salt at the very first indication of a cold or fever - just a little sugar pill under the tongue and some of them are quick dissolving and the children like them - this should clear it fast and can be taken frequently as desired - as a Cell Salt/Tissue Salt available from the Health Food Store it should be readily available.
