Guest guest
> I hate schedules and think they usually just end up hurting the babies, but I do like the sound of a nice long massage or bath or whatever while grandma takes the baby. Too bad most moms do not have I used to say I hated schedules...and still have resistance to them. Though I love that the sun comes up every morning, and the adopted puppy my housemate is caring for is SO much more calm since she makes sure the meal is served at same time 3X daily. And my digestion works better when I eat regularly, my health when I sleep etc . When I book time to serve a mom with a massage, she has to honor her baby sitter's time too, so we all have to honor the schedule and baby's angels tend to be very cooperative, once MOm realizes how much Baby has to gain too from her own good care and surrenders the anxiety long enough to begin to feel the treatment! Re the 2 hour advice, I counsel my moms to " lean into it " not with rigid rules. We all have things happen in our lives through our days and weeks and months we have to make the intimate decisions how to dance wisely, gracefully with for our baby's well being as well as our own. Guest guest
Thank you, dear Sister spirit. Finding the common ground is so important to me in sharing respect and care - for anyone. It isn't so easy when Baby is fussy, or someone abuses us in some way, intentional or not! Guest guest
Acid reflux is often indicative of dehydration. Increasing the daily intake of water and 500ml water shortly before bedtime is a good way to test to see if this is so. Best, Jane

The constipation by Iron tablets is well known. And most important, inadvisability of Iron tablets during high pitta state has been posted in post# 12502, through a story. similarly foods to avoid are discussed in message 1233: ayurveda/message/1233 Pregnancy is a very special state, and management of the health issues by food alone is best. The first trimester is dominated by pitta dosha. Vomitting, acidity, reflux, vertigo, burning sensations, heart burn all are expected to a more less extent. Hence soaked dates, grapes tend to reduce pitta and associated problems. As a dietary practice, ancient texts give emphasis on the consumption of ghee, milk and meat. Charaka recommends the protocol for first trimester: " KSHEERAMANUPASKRUTAM, MATRAVAT, SEETAM, KALE, KALE,----------PIBETH " " MADHURA, SEETA, DRAVA, PRAYAMAHARA, MUPASEVET| (SUSHRUTA) " DVITEEYE, MASE, KSHEERAMEVACHA, MADHURAOUSHADHASIDDHAM " (CHARAKA) The above statements are indicating the importance of milk. Some of the Acahryas also mention the use of honey and butter. During the second month Charaka and Vaghbhata advise to consume medicated milk with madhura drugs. (i.e.carbohydrate rich substances) During third month it is advised to consume milk with honey and ghee. Susruta advices specially cooked rice cereal with milk. The empahsis on use of milk during total pregnancy and particularly first 3 months is from essential nutrients in milk. Milk is considered as the best jeevaneeya dravya as per Ayurveda, i.e. which is essential for life. Milk has antacid prabhava and mild laxative to combat the common ailments during first trimester like constipation, acid reflux and heart burn. The first trimester of pregnancy is characterized by the formative stage of the foetus, when the embryo is nourished by a process called upasnehan (percolation). Therefore Sushruta advises more liquid diet. The milk can be made more coolingby use of satavari, vidari, which also suprress the tendency of abortion (aid prajasthapana). The use of butter and ghee is also justifiable as fats are essential for the absorption of vitamins A,D,E etc. Scientific studies indicate that pure ghee is rich in Vit. A and thus offers good immunity. Use of cold and liquid diet along with milk prevent dehydration during the first trimester as most of the woman experience nausea and vomitings hampering the intake. Madhura indicates the substances rich in glucose content which help to reduce vomitings. Susrutha even says that milk has got the property of preventing abortions. Author has advised milk boiled with shatawari, dates, soaked almonds during first trimester. > though the stool is soft the bowel is not fully clear i have to put a > lot presser for motion though the stool is soft. > Warm milk with Indian cow ghee added is a good food advise for tackling chronic constipation, constant burning sensation, acidity etc. Please note that pitta pacification property of ghee is attributed to Indian cow ghee only, Jersey cow ghee does not have as much medicinal properties as Indian cow ghee. Commercial branded ghee available in market is all Jersey cow ghee. Drakshavaleha, Gulkand with Praval added from a reputed manufacturer or even an old grandma who knows receipe for these items may be a good addition to control pitta and associated problems. Other items are discussed in post# 3499. Avipattikar churna needs to be made specially soft and cooling by adding herbs and bhasmas for prgnant women, women with menorrhagia, people suffering from piles etc. Shataptryadi churna is a better alternative as it is a softer laxative, if constipation is encountered at any stage during pregnancy. Author adds some more cooling herbs to the avipattikar/shataptryadi churna, but generally avoids giving any of these and prefers only dietary management during pregnancy. Guest guest
Namste: It is also advisable to check and confirm that manifestation Acid Reflux is not due to the presence of Helicobacter Pylori. This is a simple test that one takes the acidic drink and then blows in the bag after 15 minutes. Bags are then sent to the lab for Helicobacter Pylori confirmation.
