Guest guest
I am a Pitta/Vata type. I have been asked to follow a diet/lifestyle to pacify Vata and not provoke Pitta. I happen to suffer from Social Anxiety. My main symptoms of my Social Anxiety are Sweating, facial twitching when under social pressure. Now it looks like a total cure of this may take a while, I need to find relief that can help me survive my day to day interactions at least in my job. This has become quite difficult and people tend to think that I am shy and don't like to mix with people whereas I would love to. There are times when I force myself to do it. But the sweating makes it pretty embarrassing. So in order to avoid the embarrassment I generally keep to myself when I know the social pressure in a given situation is going to be high. Now I have been experimenting with various things in the past few years to see what reduces as it. I have found that it reduces under 2 conditions. 1. Being in the sun & totally tired. (say running under sun for 1 hr) 2. Hot yoga for 60/90 mins. In both the cases, the common thing is heat and tiredness. 3. I has also experimented with 60 mins of Yoga, 10 mins of sunlight and applying sesame oil for 30 mins. This has been helpful. But I would say 1 & 2 have been more helpful. While I can probably do this everyday, I want to understand why this is working. So I can use it to research & find easier methods to fix it. How is it effecting my Vata/Pitta. My other symptoms are fatigue & food allergies.
Guest guest
Sweating is one way, body liquefies accumulated toxins from fat cells and make their exit (Post#11023,13868, 8768). Stress accumulates water in fat cells, vitiates Vata, [hence water retention occurs before menses start]. When Mars is in cancer(Post#13264) or natal chart has Moon+Mars conjunction or aspect of mars on moon, anxiety and excess sweating is fueled by energy of Mars. This is especially noted when moon is in watery signs. On the other hand, if moon is in signs of Mercury, anxiety related profuse sweating is experienced. Mercury is the child of Moon. Excess sweating is always accompanied by excess thirst also (#11337). Strong/benific Mars gives courage to face anything, weak mars gives anxiety and fear. To understand these statements to a further depth, please visit: jyotish_ws/message/19 When immune system is hyperactive, some corticosteroid will take care of excessive sweating, but please let the situation be as it is. A simple remedy of reducing salt/salty/spicy/pungent products till body does not cry for salt may work. The food which demands more water gives rise to more water to be eliminated also. (#9212). About a century ago, many conventional doctors and naturopaths were thinking like ayurvedists. while author has a number of old books on health philosophy, he would request you to go through one chapter of a book (or just page 49-50) written a century ago by a naturopath, available online at: http://www.oneflesh.org/Nature%20Cure%20PDF/Chap%207%20Nature%20Cure\ %202000.pdf The deep breathing exercises help dousing anxiety and cause elimination of toxins through sweating, and one need not be concerned much abouty sweating. It is a symptom of cleansing, not disease, when a person is suffering from Panic attacks(#8367). Sweating always promotes relaxation, lightens the body. The fear is caused because sweating is also connected to heart attacks, and during panic attacks breathing difficulties or palpitations associated with chest pain/tighness also occur. Isolating from the society is not a solution. Building family, staying with people who understand you, who offer emotional support is a better way to kill anxiety. The real medicine is a comfort felt by a healing hand on the shoulder or heart. One way of tackling APA is elimination of ama accumulated in fat cells through snehan, swedan, liver detoxes has been discussed in six recent posts entitled " Anxiety Panic Attack Management " . Guest guest
Your Social Anxiety can be because you care too much about what other people think about you with is a self-esteem issue… You get nerves because you think everybody's better then you {which is never true} There is no quick fix here… The best way is through self- accomplishments… If you have ever wanted to pick up a musical instrument now's the time… A musical instrument can enhance the quality of your life by 25%… You need to improve upon your self until you feel better… You also have to change the way you look at other people… Most people have self esteem issues… Dare I say at least 99%! And the repercussions manifest in different ways… You need to meditate… I can't stress this enough… This is the greatest tool ever given to mankind and not near enough people takes advantage of it... It is the only time that God can fill your head with the right ideas of life... As your falling a sleep at night ask God for your Dharma. {Purpose in life} and then keep an open mind… It may take a week, month, or so, but it will be the thing that is obvious; the thing that excites you the most… Theirs only three things that will keep you from having it… Time, money, and other people opinions… You have to go for it! …God will give you the time and money… once again you will have to deal with other peoples opinions… The Sun is probably working for you because heat pacifies Vata… but is to hot and will eventually aggravate Pitta… You might want to try some of the nerve sedative herbs such as Valerian or Jatamansi. Yoga is good but not that new power Yoga… You are trying to come down not wind up… A great man once said, " that if you practice the presents of peace it's only a matter of time before manifests… Good luck … Noel
Guest guest
> Your Social Anxiety can be because you care too much about what >other people think about you with is a self-esteem issue… You get > nerves > because you think everybody's better then you {which is never true} I have come to the conclusion that this matters little once you get to a certain level of health. From what I found in Ayurveda & self help knowledge, that Confidence is as much a state of health as it is a collection of beliefs. Observing people around me, I notice that my self esteem is better than the average person around me. I used to have the above line of thinking as presented by you before I discovered Ayurveda, and I found that relying solely on self esteem to fix this is not been a beneficial approach. While I have incorporated and worked with it, I believe that practical changes will come from improving one's health. Human society is hierarchical in nature, so there will be gradations in value. Its how someone reacts to such social pressure, based on their health (doshic values) is interesting to me. As this (doshic values) is something that can be changed. >You need to meditate… I can't stress this enough… This is the greatest tool ever given to mankind and not near enough people takes advantage of it... I agree to this whole heartedly. Its a god send. > It is the only time that God can fill your head with the right >ideas of life... As your falling a sleep at night ask God for your >Dharma. {Purpose in life} and then keep an open mind… It may take a >week, month, or so, but it will be the thing that is obvious; the >thing that excites you the most… Theirs only three things that will >keep you from having it… Time, money, and other people opinions… You >have to go for it! …God will give you the time and money… once again > you will have to deal with other peoples opinions… Its interesting that I have been thinking about the 'Purpose in Life' lately, and here you come up with a technique. It will try this out. > The Sun is probably working for you because heat pacifies Vata… but > is to hot and will eventually aggravate Pitta I am looking for such insight. I am taking herbs for this but as I mentioned heat is something that is working for sure. thank you for your reply.
Guest guest
Mr . Harish . U stated that ur body type ( prakriti ) is Pitta/Vata . It is not clear that is it told by ur doc or u thought as urself . But let me remind u that , the body constitution like the combination u have Pitta / Vata , possesses some sepcial features like : This body type possess mental fear many times . It leads to body twitching & sweating . Many times it leads to palpitations too . The heart rate goes up at such a level that , the person himself , hears the sound of the heartbeat , many times . These people have the tendancy to get scared when they go in Social life .. They feel insecured always in their Social life . To have sweat , is the main reason due to this constitution point ( prakriti guna ) . As Dr . Bhate told that sweating is correct method to reduce this anxiety . It lowers down ur increased pressure . It relaxes u . So it is the natural way to decrease the Anxiety . When u r totally tired , then ur body & mind want to relax . Thats y , when u go to sleep to relax , u dont find any type of anxiety at that time . Also being in the Sun have positive effect on the mind not to have anxiety . Yoga helps to calm the mind & body . Thats these things u stated r beneficial for u to get relaxed . Sesame oil will relax ur body after having an Abhyanga ( Massage ) . Ur notifications on urself r very correct . In my personal experience in the patients , the increased quality & quantity of the Shukra Dhatu is also beneficial in this case . As it increases the qualtity & quantity of the Ojas in the body to remain strong in all the positions . Have some abstinance in sex ( say only once a week ) & u can see the results . Dr . Gandhi S .
