Sometimes I feel I need something in the morning to get going. Is it okay to

have chai with some honey in it? You hear so many bad things about sugar of

any kind and especially when you are a fast oxidizer. I am a Pitta type I

believe. I think I need a serotonin hit in the morning. I am not sluggish

anymore after eliminating dairy and wheat just not as excited about morning

chores.

Your enquiry makes me wonder if it is about a pick me up or about a zest for

life?  To rise with the enthusiasm for life can be found without any external

stimulation.  Chai with honey is often a yogis best friend!!  Many Vaidyas on

this loop seem to advocate a nice glass of water, some stimulating breathing,

meditation and exercise.

Yes, the neurotransmitters, including serotonin are enhanced by a number of the

pranayamas properly done. I find we cannot overemphasize the importance of

taking silence between each round - 1-2 minutes, otherwise this benefit doesn't

integrate well and what could have been serotonin instead is aggravated vata or

pitta.

 

Pranayama enhances the bliss molecules! A little brahmi or tulsi in your chai

can be very good also, though without the pranayama might not give the results

you are looking for on consistent basis *0) Add the raw honey when drinkably

warm, not boiling hot.
