There is no need to be afraid of swine flu. The stress caused by its fear and

other negative states such as boredom, fatigue, worry, melancholy thoughts,

jealousy depresses immune system. Such a system will open gates to all viruses,

not only swine flu but chickenguniya, dengu, bird flu, plague etc, to multiply

and colonise our body.

Other reasons which depress immune system alertness are:

1. Inadequate sleep

2. Late dinner, indigestion due to heavy foods

3. Iregular timings of meals

4. Foods stored in Fridge for long time

5. Lack of exercise, sedentary lifestyle

6. No exposure to sunlight

7. Exposure to computer screens in a/c environment

8. Exposure to polluted environment, especially deficient in oxygen content.

9. Taking food before previous one is digested

10. separation from loved ones, worries about their well being etc

Vulnerable population includes children, elderlies, IT professionals working 9

to 9 in artificial lights and A/c cabins, Managers travelling in A/c Cars are

more vulnerable due to additional stress of economic meltdown.

Many more reasons can be added. For ladies, few days before the start of Menses

is a time period where they are vulnerable to mood swings, depressed state.

Immunity is low during these few days, and they become victim to Candida

infection causing leucorrhoea and thrush.

When immunity is low, the viruses find it easy to attack our tissues.

The remedies for such condition should balance doshas, strengthen immune system.

Few remedies:

1. The best anti-biotic, anti-fungal, anti-viral is Cow urine or its distillate.

Take 1-2 tsp thrice a day, diluting it by boiled or copper water in ratio 1:3

When you take cow urine, use it in 24 hours, quantity maximum 5 ml starting

dose, gradually reach to 10 ml in 3 days. Keep the dose constant till all

symptoms vanish, hunger digestion and motions normalize. Cow urine or its

distillate can be used for all epidemics, all fevers.

2. For those who cant obtain cow urine or distillate, mix Sitopaladi Churna and

Yeshtimadhu Churna, each ½ tsp, add little honey and Indian cow ghee (ensure

that ghee and honey are in unequal proportion) and lick this twice a day. There

is an anti-viral ingredient in Licorice, and there are studies done abroad to

prove this. This ingredient was shown useful in Chinese studies, especially

against H5N1 virus attack.

3. Cinnamon, cloves and Cardamom, pound together taking equal quantity by

weight. Put this in a small bottle and inhale the smell frequently. Eucalyptus

oil inhalation is also useful.

4. Formulations should be taken after consulting a vaidya, since they

differ somewhat depending on symptoms, pulse, age, vitality, availability etc.

Ayurveda has fast relief medication as well as slow but sure medication. One has

to observe food restrictions while taking some formulations. Vaidya is the best

guide here.

Avoid Sleeping late, cold/uncooked foods, incompatible diet. Tea/coffee after

Idli Sambhar, No No. Instead of Mask, one can apply pure cow ghee, or

Ashtamangal Ghrut or Panchgavya Ghrut inside the nose. It does not allow germs

to enter the lungs. Panchgavya ghrut is good for depression too.

Dhupam: Fire cow dung cakes, when stable fire establishes, burn Indian cow ghee,

Guggal, Loban, Neem leaves in the fire. Contrary to what one may think, these

are available in Metros also. Goushalas also sell ready to burn sticks

containing above ingredients. Dhup smoke purifies the environment. Cow ghee,

when burnt, produces Ozone. LIght cotton clothing permits sunlight exposure.

Avoid synthetic clothes. Spend some time to watch setting sun from a

garden/beach. Watching rising sun with wide open eyelids without blinking is

termed sun-gazing and should be done gradually increasing time.

Lastly, Pranayama strengthens the lungs and increases the efficacy of

oxygenation of blood. This boosts immunes system. Those who do pranayama

regularly will never suffer from respiratory difficulties or lung infections.
