Guest guest
Dear Folks, I've been subscribing to Betty Kamen's hints for a LONG time now...and they are always GREAT. I wanted to share today's hint, in full, along with its comments about possible Mother's Day gifts. It's good stuff, and they want me to include ALL their information if I use part of it - NO PROBLEM! I also encourage people to read her books - she is a fountain of information on one of my favorite subjects: WOMEN AND PROGESTERONE. I believe wholeheartedly in using progesterone cream, and have one I recommend highly. Anyway, hope you enjoy her hint today. Since the average person takes only 4,000 steps a day instead of the desired 10,000, a great Mother's Day gift could be a step-counter (pedometer), gym or aerobics class membership, or some simple exercise equipment. (My favorite is the rebounder.) A pedometer costs about $20.00. It can remind Mom to look for ways to compensate for our couch-potato environment. But in addition to the number of steps we take each day, we must remember that the steps must be brisk. Specialists have long advised at least 30 minutes of moderately intense physical activity every day for overall health. Few people listen - nearly 4 in 10 adults report getting no exercise at all [and that's a very conservative figure]. Less than a third of schoolchildren get daily gym class, and less than a third who live within a mile of school walk. And then there's the time we spend at our TVs and computers.
