Guest guest
(Response to inquiry from Swamy) The alkalarian dietary program is really not a diet, but a way of eating, like being a Vegan or Vegetarian. People who choose to follow the dietary guidelines thus become " Alkalarians " . It's perfect because it allows the body to balance itself. It's not a fad, but hopefully a way of eating that people may choose to follow for the rest of their lives, and it has been proven to reduce the effects of some disease processes. I have to be very careful when I talk about what this dietary plan has done for people, because the government doesn't want to hear that certain diseases can be " eliminated " from the body. The one very positive side effect from becoming an " Alkalarian " is weight loss if you are obese, and weight gain if you are anorexic or malnourished. When you start this program, the body will naturally begin to normalize, and will ultimately reach the ideal weight for that particular individual. I would be happy to provide more information to your group in the future, because some amazing things are starting to happen to me healthwise, as a result of changing my way of eating. I'd like to recommend 2 books on the subject: " The pH Miracle " by Dr. Robert Young (a biologist) and " The Acid-Alkaline Diet for Optimum Health " , by Christopher Vasey (a Naturopathic Doctor). I can, however say that I have several well-known disease processes going on in my body, two of which I inherited, and one or two others that I feel have been a result of my inactivity and poor diet. I have a library of health and diet books, I've been a nurse for close to 15 years, but despite this, old, toxic habits are hard to break. I have seen at least one health problem begin to correct itself in my body. For almost 20 years I have been on a very potent antibiotic twice a day to control my adult cystic acne. Everyone always tells me how beautiful my skin is, but they don't realize that I've been taking medication that has a possible link to the development of breast cancer, which also runs in my family. Since I've made some changes in my diet, I have reduced my twice a day antibiotic to once a day, and I was fully prepared for a massive outbreak, but that didn't happen! The amazing thing is that I'm not fully on this plan yet, but every day, my body is giving me little hints to stay on the plan. For example, I LOVE Dunkin' Donuts coffee, and have been used to drinking a cup a day at least, and more when I'm at work. I gave up coffee two months ago, but last weekend I had a ferocious craving for coffee. I dug around in my cupboard and found a sealed Folger's coffee bag (looks like a teabag), poured in the hot water and Stevia sweetener, took a few sips and promptly began to feel sick to my stomach! The coffee tasted bitter, and my stomach began to protest after a few minutes. I didn't have to read about why coffee is not good for the me - my body let me know in its own way. And that's what will happen when you start the Alkalarian dietary plan. Please do look into purchasing those books, Krista - you may feel more comfortable reading about the truly miraculous health claims if you know that a doctor and a microbiologist can support those claims with their research, and trust me, you will be AMAZED!! P.S. For all the women members of this holistic health group who are interested in the link between breast cancer and the prolonged use of antibiotics, I refer you to www.gyncancer.com, the website of a doctor in California, I believe Yours in health, Safiya
Guest guest
Safiya, You say "I have reduced my twice a day antibiotic to once a day". I just thought - do you actually have an acute infection that needs antibiotics? For 20 years? Everyone knows now that massive over-use of antibiotics has led to the bugs becoming increasingly resistant, but as a Biochemist I know that this was actually known over 40 years ago, and nothing was done about it. If they were going to work for you, surely they wouldn't need 20 years to have an effect. Best wishes anyway, Stewart P.s. If you know anyone who is fed up with wearing glasses or contact lenses, they might be interested to know that there is a completely natural alternative. It has been known for over eighty years that short- and long-sightedness etc can be improved or eliminated by purely natural means. They might like to look at www.seeing.org , the website of the Bates Association for Vision Education.(It was Dr William Bates (1860 - 1931), an ophthalmologist himself, who made the original discoveries.) - safiyaa4444 holistic-health 30 April 2004 20:50 Re: The Alkalarian Dietary Program holistic-health , kristalonsdale@a... wrote:> Safiya-what other health problems can this diet help?Does it have a > beneficial effect on IBS and other bowel conditons for example? And what about food > allergies and intolerances?I may well seek out ur reccommended books but > meanwhile it would be nice to have these questions answered-Thankyou in advance-Krista > :-)Dear Krista:It is difficult to respond to your question because I don'twant to make health "claims".
