Guest guest
Dear All, The Annual Assessment Meeting for Indian Point Units 2 and 3 is coming up soon. Mark your calendar now for Thursday, April 22, 7PM, Colonial Terrace, Oregon Road, Peekskill, NY. While this meeting has nothing to do with the re certification process, the press and therefore local politicians will most certainly use it to gauge public interest in closing Indian Point. This meeting is symbolic and we need to be well represented! There has been little that we could do on the grassroots level in the last six months, so take this opportunity seriously. Closing Indian Point remains a critical concern and that has to be reinforced every chance we get. Entergy has made serious inroads with the massive amounts or money they have spent on spreading lies and they will undoubtedly have as many employees there as they can muster. What we have is the truth and citizens who will turn out and vote for what they believe in November. With the anti incumbent fever that has swept across the country this is a major asset. But we need to show that the support to close the plant is still there. Closing Indian Point is far from a dead issue. In fact, because of grassroots support this is the most contentious re certification the NRC has ever had to deal with. The State of New York has actually filed contentions that detail why the plant should be closed, NY Department of Environmental Conservation has denied them a water quality permit because of the damage the plants cause to the Hudson River ecosystem and the NY Public Service Commission has denied them the spin off the Entergy Corp needed to reduce its debt load. This has not happened in other state of the union. We can all be proud of what has been accomplished and now we must be determined to see it through to the end. We have a chance to win! Don't drop out now. Come to the meeting on April 22 and be there for the body count. Sincerely, Marilyn Elie Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit 2 and Unit 3 6:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. April 22, 2010 Information Session ...................................
