Guest guest
THIS IS WHAT I CALL A FINE(X) -- by Dr. Leo Rebello After ages, I found an educative advertisement. Full page, in HT of 12th June. It runs as under - word to word with spelling mistakes pointed out in red and word (sic) and my comments at the end. This Monsoon get rid of unhygienic Water and Enjoy Holiday with your family ! Is your potable water 100% safe? Cholera Cause : Bacterial Water Diorrhea (sic) Cause : Water Containing Bacteria Cancer Cause : Insecticide and pestiside (sic) in water Poisoning Cause : Arsenic (in) Water (sic) Heart Disease Cause : Excess Sodium in Water Kidney Stone Cause : Magnesium in Water Viral Diseases Cause : Virus(es) in Water (sic) Jaundice Cause : Infected Water Then it shows putrid water glass with caption: Water You Drink and in another panel Clean Glass of Water with caption: Water We Promise. The advt further says : FINEX RO Water Purification Systems (sic) The most advanced water purification system. After the intense research of the years, (sic) Now (sic) we have launched the latest & the best technology of RO Purification systems (sic) in accordance to (sic) the Domestic, Corporate, Medical, Official & Institutional need. Now you may ask what RO stands for. The advt addresses this as under : How RO (Reverse Osmosis) is better than UV Technology UV need(s) (sic) more time of contact to inactivate bacteria. Most of (the) time (sic) it does no harm to virus(es) (sic). It cannot remove salts, Brakishness (sic) & excess iron and chlorine. It cannot improve the odour & taste of water. RO Membrane purifies even the very small dissolved salts, organics, pathogens & harmful chemicals, even upto the size of 0.0001 micron Finex RO Water Purification Systems (sic) also contains carbon filter that prevents microbial growth & removes colour odour, dissolved gases & maintains natural taste. One year warranty ... good for offices, schools ... call for dealer enquiry etc. etc. And then it gives the picture of the product with a very fine slogan 'Pure as your Love'. What I do not accept is this : '100% Jain Water'. This term means there are absolutely no living organisms in the water. Well... Well... Well... As one Italian Chef wrote in the same newspaper that even Vegetarian food in Italy is cooked in Beef and Pork stock. So, my submission is there is no one in this world who is 100% vegetarian. Also, let me tell you that water without life is 'dead water'. I remember reading that distilled water reduces life span. Reverting back to the Advt - barring Gujju English and that 100% Jain Water slogan, the advertisement gets 90% marks for fine presentation or should we say FINEX presentation !!! The name of the ad agency is missing. See page 30 HT of 12th June if you wish to attend Live Demo at various places.
