Guest guest
Food cravings are a tricky diagnotistic tool. I used to crave ice cream all the time and it turned out that I was not only deficient in essential fatty acids (EFA's) but also calcuim and magnesium. Until I started taking all three, I didn't really get those cravings under control. Simply taking the EFA's (such as Linum B6 which is a Standard Process product containing flaxseed oil and Vitamin B6) was not enough in and of itself though it did a lot to help curb my cravings for fatty food. The real proof, for me, was when I ran out of Linum B6 for two weeks and went back to craving Kentucky Fried chicken, Ruffles potato chips with dip and other greasy foods that I used to crave before starting Linum B6. When the cravings came back within 2 weeks of quitting the Linum B6, that was pretty concrete proof that the product had helped me curb the cravings. The cravings pretty much stopped again, except for the remaining urge for ice cream and cheeses, when I went on the Linum B6. Since I also tended to crave salt, I started taking calcium because my naturopathic doctor said that salt cravings generally indicate a need for calcium. However, at the time, neither of us realized that I also needed more magnesium in order to utilize the calcium. I'm doing much better now that I'm on all 3. I also take 1200 EU's of Vitamin E each day as well as some Vitamin C. For more information about the Standard Process line of supplements, including Linum B6, see http://www.myhealthstore.com (which is not my website but is the site of Dr. Freeman, a member of the StandardProcess list.)
