Guest guest
Can anyone explain what pancreatis (or pancreitis, I am not sure how to spell it) is and why we get it? My Dad was in the hospital several years ago for pancreatis and now my poor dog has it, too! In fact, the vet thinks my dog may also be diabetic now. I hate to think of giving her insulin shots for the rest of her life. I'd rather take them myself! Anyway, I'd appreciate it if any of you have any information. - Anna
Guest guest
Anna, I don't know how this translates to an animal but I will tell you my expereince w/ it. I had it when my twins were 3 weeks old--over 8 years ago. I went to a naturopathic chiro & he gave me Gastrex (Standard Process Labs) to coat the stomach as the pancreatic acid will create the pain as it drips on it. Then he put me on a stress free diet-no ruffage & low fat. I mainly juiced & didn't eat beef-only chicken or fish. Then he told me how to stop the attacks: Find the vertebrae that is out & put a soft ball sized aluminum foil ball at that point. Then hold the breath while someone grips the shoulders very tightly. How he told me to do this was to lean against a corner to find the point. Then put the ball (balls) in a sock to hold them in place & lean against it. Then my hubby would stand in front of me & grip my shoulders as I held my breath. This tricked the brain into stopping the attack. It really worked. I took a glandular supplement & in 21 days all the cells were totally healthy, new cells. I have not had a problem since. It is very fatal illness that 1 out of 2 that go the medical way, don't make it. I am very grateful!!! I think you could adapt this for a dog. · ´¨)) -:¦:- ~Jolene~ . .·´¨¨)) -:- Heal me,O Lord, & I shall be healed ((¸¸.· ..·´-:¦:- Born2BHealed -:¦:- ((¸¸. ______________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
Anna, Sometimes a dog may get pancreatitis(sp?) from eating too much pork products. For instance, if you give as treats or table scraps such as, bacon, ham, pork sausage, or a ham bone. A fellow Vet. Tech. told me of a client who brought her dog in and when they did blood work found out the dog had this. The owner did not feed any pork but, did mention that every morning she would give her dog a bowl of Cocoa Puffs cereal. This was over a very long period of time and the dog gradually got pancreatisis. You may want to reconsider the kind of dog food you feed. You also might want to research in feeding an all natural or home-made diet. I hope this helps some, I use to be a vet tech but, now just do alot of reading and research for my own 2 fur-babies.
