Has anyone used Hypnosis and subliminal tapes

Dear Anna:

Your question brings back many memories. Dr. Murray Friedman, (now

deceased) of Santa Fe, NM was a wonderful Doctor. In fact he had

achieved the the highest level of recognition in two fields. He was

one of the pioneers using biofeedback visualization to relieve pain,

especially pain associated with cancer. He also was honored as one of

Santa Fe's " Living Treasures " i.e. a most honored elder, having

contributed so many years of service to the people.

I had a c-section with my first child and wanted to deliver the

next children the normal way. With several treatments and my own copy

of his visualization tape I was driven to Los Alamos while listening

to the tape and delivered a boy naturally at the Los Alamos Medical

center in NM an hour or so after arriving. At one point I opened my

eyes and the room was full of attendants and nurses, just staring at

me, because they could not believe I had not moaned, groaned or panted

and the baby was in transition and ready to be delivered. Eight pounds

and 10 ounces and we named him Berni Bernt-Cedar Buhler.It was great

and I felt no pain, only pressure, as with the next one. In fact, when

I went into labor with the third boy I put my headphones on and walked

to the hospital where he was born about an hour and a half after I

arrived. The nurses had left me alone because they figured

I wasn't about to deliver since I had made absolutely no fuss. They

came running quick though when I called and said the baby was coming

NOW!---

This wasn't hypnotism for at any point during the treatments I could

have opened my eyes and ended the session. I have also taught

visualization and think it is a wonderful modality for healing when

used by a trained therapist.

When we talk our brain waves are usually in the Beta pattern. When

we are visualizing or in the creative mode we are in Alfa. Through the

use of the biofeedback you learn to stay in that very creative and

absorbed state and actualize the goals you need to achieve. At that

level any suggestions given are readily absorbed by the receptive

mind. This is approach cannot be uses to control your mind as

hypnosis, as at any point all you would have to do is open your eyes

if you felt something was wrong. I hope this has been helpful. I can

Small world! I'm in New Mexico now!

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I have had past life regressions, a

form of hypnotherapy, and can vouch that they're very useful but I haven't

tried the kind of visualizations that you describe.

I bought some self-hypnosis tapes and subliminal tapes but, unfortunately,

don't think they're working for me so that's why I brought up the subject.

Too bad that Dr. Friedman is no longer with us...

Hi,

I studied self-hypnosis under Dr. Kurpieski and delivered 4 of my 5 children using the technique by substituting the concept of *pain* with the concept of *pressure*. It was pain-less and all were strong and healthy

I also used hypnosis for past life regressions (later) and these experiences facilitated awareness of connections, growth, and a spiritual knowledge that led me to the Buddhism that I practice today.

Maybe you are using the wrong kind of tapes and went to the wsrong doctor. I have had both and still use the tools. I have changed my life around 100% and become a person I love that takes no more abuse as I did before. They work but they have to be real. Ther are many imposters and tapes made by people who think they know what they are doing but do not.

The tapes I use come from Gatways and are working with Edger Cacy .
