On the main message board this post would have eventually been absorbed and there is information there that is important and may prove vital to some member down the road. That is why I have given it a board all it's own. It is here if needed, G-d willing none of us will........................................ Hi everyone. I hope you don't mind me sending mail like this but I don't know how else to get the message out to those who may need us. My name is Jim and I'm the public relations leader for the Great Lakes Wing of Angel Flight Central. We provide FREE flights aboard private aircraft for those in need of medical care or for other reasons of compassion. If you need to travel somewhere for treatment but can't afford the expense, or if travel by car is too much of a strain, we have volunteer pilots ready to fly you where you need to go for help. The Great Lakes Wing is a newly formed division of Angel Flight Central and we are responsible for the Illinois and Wisconsin areas but we can arrange flights in ALL of the lower 48 states though our national affiliations. The requirements are as follows: a financial need (this does NOT mean you have to be homeless! Even the well-heeled can be left hurting after fighting cancer for extended periods); you must be able to sit upright in an airplane seat; must not have a communicable disease; must provide your own oxygen (if needed) or other medical devices;it cannot be an emergency situation;you must sign a release. Remember these flights are with experienced volunteer FAA certified pilots and aircraft and are 100% FREE to the passengers. Our pilots and ground volunteers pay for the flights with the help of generous "angels" who donate time and money to help us. We will fly you, and others you need, as often as you need to travel for treatment. (Yep, even if it's every week!). This means to AND from! We can often provide free ground transport through our "Earth Angels" program as well.
