i started taking the melatonin along with everything else i take for

my RA since ive always been an insomniac and i really need the extra

rest..i noticed a VERY slight difference, something both me and my

husband, who sleeps probably even less than i do have noticed works

for us is cedarwood oil,id gotten it for my hair and noticed right

away how it helped me get right to sleep. I started rubbing it on my

pillow, my husband who never seems to REALLY get good deep sleep and

wakes up all the time even felt the effects. Now i rub some on our

pillows before bed and we drift right off to sleep and have some

pretty interesting dreams too. He probably wouldve thought i was

nuts had he not experienced it himself, ended up taking my bottle

with him on the road and he's getting really good sleep..

Hello,

Can someone tell me if it is possible to take too much melatonin? Over the course of the evening I take about 9 mg. (3 pills) Thanks

The problem with most Melatoniin products on the market today is

that it is solvent extracted and can cause nightmares in sensitive

individuals. I use one by Premier labs in liquid form and take just

a few drops every night and sleep like a baby. ( I do not sell any

products, you can only get this brand from a healthcare

professional, so I am not promoting anything for my profit)

My understanding about Melatonin is that it is cumulative and so you

won't need to take that much for very long, unless of course there

is some other underlying condition. To MY knowledge you cannot take

too much, but you may want to call the manufaturer, most have some

kind of help line.

I hope this information is useful.

Hi,

I have been taking Melatonin every night since January

or February with the advise of my primary care

physician. She says that you can safely take 10mg,

however I take 6mg. Last year she tried to get me to

take it, when I was not having any luck sleeping, I

did and did not get the correct results. So I stopped

it, after going to several doctors and discovering

additional health problems " connective tissue

disorder, read about it and found that it helps boost

the immune system so started taking it again. Learned

if I take it and go to bed then it helps, I don't

think it helps the way I sleep but do feel more rested

when I do take it.

Good luck, Jeanna

Melatonin is great. Read some books about it.

Valerian also works for a lot of people. I do not like the "zoned out" feeling it gives me.... but a lot of people like it.

Chamomile tea before going to sleep (or while awake, reading a book, hoping to go to sleep) is also helpful.

Renee, I suffer from insomnia too. Right now, I'm on Trazodone, but I want to get rid of that. Do you know of anything natural? Thanks, Amelia

Thanks for the tips. I do want to caution people with lupus about melatonin. It stimulates the immune system, so it can make lupus worse (it happened to me). Best, Amelia

What about calcium for insomnia? Try 1200 mgs a day with 600mgs magnesium.

But stay away from calcium carbonate, its chalk.

Let me know if it works,
