Guest guest
Perhaps consider seeing a homeopath. There are a number of effective remedies (Nat mur, Aurum, Ignatia amara, Sepia, etc., etc., etc.) to treat depression. A professional homeopath can recommend the proper remedy for you; they will be seeking the homeopathic remedy to treat the underlying cause of your depression, not just the symptoms of depression. Also, there is a terrific product by Amazon Herb Co called Pure Camu. Camu Camu is a berry which grows in the Amazon Rainforest Basin. Each berry contains 30 times more Vit C than an orange. Drinking the Amazon Herb powered berries in water each days tells the body to release Serotonin (mood balancing chemical in the brain) which naturally elevates one's mood. Many have found this nutritional drink to be a God send for S.A.D. or other depressive states. Pure Camu has been found to be essential for an energetic body and sharp mind, as well as helping to regulate the acid/alkaline balance in the body. In my experience, it possesses these and many other healthful qualities. Guest guest
On the topic of Depression, ADHD, allergies, anything to do with the body-mind connection (which is of course everything) My dear cyber friend Dr Phil Bate has now made his E-book available free of charge at his website. It contains fascinating case histories of people with horrendous psychological problems cured not by delving into childhood traumas, but by working with allergies, food sensitivities and nutritional deficiencies. And, in reverse, he has helped people with allergies and asthma by changing brain waves, using bio-feedback. Dr Bate is a retired clinical psychologist who ended up working with food and biofeedback. Wonderful gentleman, now in his late seventies. This is his life's work and I can tell you he is not in it for the money. The website is a wealth of information. Guest guest
I don't think chiropractors could be members of the AMA because their license is D.C., not M.D., but why would they anyways? Chiropractors are a good option for nutritional knowledge sometimes. DLPA, low-dose lithium, Tyrosine, 5-HTP - all are sometimes good for depression, depending upon the cause. jp What most people dont' realize, even MDs, your whole health starts with your nervous system. All impluses to each and every organ, the things that made them work, come from the Nervous system, and its channels to the brain activity.Interrupstions in that nervous system cause organ failures.See? It's simple. No wonder MDs hate Chiropractors, the Chiropractors KNOW this, and refuse to become members of the AMA. The AMA is a union after all, looking after its constituants.Want to meet the smartest Natural cure doctor you can meet, talk to a good Chiro.Pain..pain also comes from your Nervous system. Its not a muscle as you might assume, its the pressure of a musle OR other ON your nerve.Free up your bad connections...free up your heart misfires.Stuff the Medical community or drug companies dont want YOU to know. Guest guest
Hi, I've had short-term depression and used St. John's Wort successfully. My significant other is now using it for depression. Germany had a big research project comparing St. John's Wort to prescriptions for depression. The findings were that St. John's Wort worked as well and had fewer side effects. If you were treated by a German doctor, you'd be taking St. John's Wort. I noticed no undesireable side effects at all. It's such a shame that our medical establishment sold out to the big pharmaceutical companies. Jeff , " montaraspeaks " <MontaraSpeaks wrote: > > Prozac . . . just another medical Rx bandaid. Guest guest
Let me preface this by I am a psychiatrist and I use a lot of natural methods instead of medication. Prozac is famous for this, in the beginning you feel pumped up and great then you start to get a chronic fatigue and even some weight gain. Other SSRI's do better but over time can be similar. The dual acting ones can be better, the effexor I dislike almost everyone doses it improperly, it's not dual acting until you get over 225mg. Cymbalta is dual acting from the first mg. Do yourself a favor. Get some Sam-e start 400mg twice a day and you should start to feel better in 4 days. It MATTERS A LOT what brand you get. Some brands are horrible and don't test well. vitamin shoppe is inexpensive compared to others and tests well. they also make a 400mg tablet you should be taking omega 3's as well vitatamin shoppe brand is good because the fat content is good ie the epa count some capsules are very poor. Nordic naturals is another good brand. Take 4 a day Then if you are inclinced and believe get yourself to someone very qualified in acupunture for the rest of your treatment. I don't know what time of day your moods fluctuate, when you have your fatigue/sadness/irritability but that is your TCM to figure out and treat. If you do acupuncture they should be board certified, not someone who took a weekend workshop or a 500 hour course. These natural supplements work JUST AS WELL and do not carry the side effects/weight gain issues. Since prozac has a half life of one week, it will take almost 2 months for it to clear your system. This means it will do a natural taper on it's own and there is no need to 'wean off it' like the shorter acting SSRI's. As always check with your doctor, this is not considered medical advice/this is not a doctor/patient relationshionship etc etc but Sam-e was a prescription drug in Europe for many years and it is wonderful. I put a lot of people on it. _____ On Behalf Of Michelle Ives Friday, October 12, 2007 7:04 PM Re: Depression Have you ever had your thyroid or adrenal function tested? Guest guest
A woman posted on an essential oils exchange letter that her husband had quite severe bipolar disease and the blend " Peace and Calming " from Young Living would calm him down. She would diffuse it in the home, and he would stop ranting nd raving. Anectdotal, of course, but no side effects and can be used with other meds. Scents do affect the brain, and this may have happened to the husband. Check out their website and/or call one of their representatives. Circumstances prevent me from seeking counseling. Does anyone know anything that might help? Hello, I also have gone off antidepressants, in fact around the same time as you did, about 2 months ago. I never found them to be helpful, and I felt that they were causing me to steadily put on weight, so I weaned myself off them. Perhaps you stopped taking them without doing it gradually, so you are having more of a withdrawal reaction? I really think you need to see a professional about the serious suicidal feelings you have been having. Someone must have dispensed the antidepressants to you...you must speak to them about your suicidal feelings. I too was an avid reader who lost interest in it when I was depressed. But I find that I am starting to find pleasure in reading again. The withdrawal process from antidepressants can take some time, but it will end. I have never heard of brain damage being caused by antidepressants (and I am in the mental health profession, ironically...) - so don't let this false belief make you more depressed. If you google the name of the antidepressant that you were on, and then add, " forums " , you'll find that there are many discussion forums with members in your situation, who are having a difficult time coming off antidepressants. You might find kindred spirits there, and the communication with others might help with your suicidal feelings. I sincerely hope things improve for you soon. Just remember that this too shall pass. Guest guest
Have you tried to talk to someone about how you feel? It is entirely possible that the drug withdrawal is doing this to you. There may be another medication to help you through the transition time. I also suffer from depression but nowhere near as bad as you are. I find that St. John's Wort helps, along with 5 HTP. I was just reading about something called mulungu, which is supposed to help with anxiety and depression. I know it's hard to say " think positive " when there isn't much in your life that is positive, but you never know - things could change for the better. Guest guest
Hi, The content of your message skaked me, Few months ago I was in a place of emptiness and it took much kindness and tenderness, no I mean all the kindness and tenderness I had and more to go through this state of being. It was nothing compare to you, however where it brough me is to a quiet crative place where i have never been before and denied myself to even imagine in the past. I have no miracle solution because it is such a difficult place to be and still your message was with me. And then later today I planned the net and found this. I know it sounds 'intellectual' reading about what to do, i don't pretend it IS it but I cannot just stand and read your message only. Dr. Gordon, author of Unstuck: Your Guide to the Seven-Stage Jo=rney Out of Depression, talks with Dr. Oz and his wife, Lisa, and Dr. =ichael Roizen about how to treat depression by using alternative methods.<=R> In Unstuck, Dr. Gordon outlines his seven-step journey to t=eating depression. 1. The call. The first step is to become =ware of your depression. Many people go through life and don't really know=what's going on, Dr. Gordon says. He advises people to start by asking the=selves, " What's going on? " He also says to take The Center for Epidemiolog=cal Studies-Depression test (CES-D) developed by the National Institute of=Mental Health. This series of questions will help you focus not only on wh=ther you're depressed, but on what some of the issues of your depression a=e. 2. Look for guides. Look for people who can help y=u, Dr. Gordon says. In terms of a professional guide, be very clear about what kind of therapist you want. " It's a process that I think is wor=h investing time, energy and money in because it will save you so much dow= the road, " he says. 3. Surrendering to change. In this stag=, it's critically important to begin to move. " Physical exercise, with the=exception of talking with another sympathetic, intelligent, trained human =eing, is the single best treatment for depression, " Dr. Gordon says. 4. Dealing with demons. All of us deal with demons, such as procra=tination, guilt, shame and loneliness. Rather than trying to suppress them= try to talk out the problem. 5. The dark night of the so=l. Dr. Gordon says this is the time when we're in despair, when nothin= seems to work. " It's important to acknowledge that these times exist. We'=e a society that's made very nervous by despair, " he says. " Suicide, parti=ularly among young people, is increasing. We have to acknowledge that one in five young people have thought seriously about killing themsel=es, and one in 10 has made an attempt. " 6. Spirituality. It =s as native to us as the air we breathe, Dr. Gordon says, and we sometimes=forget about it. For him, spirituality simply means a connection to someth=ng that's greater than us, something that gives our lives meaning and purp=se. " This chapter really helps put people back in touch with the possibili=ies of love, the benefits of prayer and the importance of forgiveness, " he=says. 7. The return. " As you move on this journey through an= beyond depression, it's not necessarily that where you are changes, but e=en more importantly, the way you look at and experience where you are and =hat you do changes, " he says. my heart feels you. , " ravenflight393 " <ravenflight393 wrote: > > Hi Everyone, > > I found it necessary to go off antidepressants. Guest guest
Donna, I totally know what you mean about not sharing because you don't want to hurt others. Crystals that are good for healing know all about how to draw off the pain and release it. Just cleanse them in moonlight, running water or Mother Earth after you work with them. My favorite calming stone is Howlite. My favorite protective stone is black tourmaline-I have a large chunk which communicates emotionally with me, which is the first time I have gotten to know the personality of a stone--it makes me smile when it is near me. Dear one, you were not meant to carry all that pain. You have a beautiful season of life to enjoy now, and crystals can help you heal and support you through the process. I would also highly recommend Reiki for healing and support. Been there, done that, and survived also-- Cindy
Guest guest
Donna x When you are depressed you cannot view anything in a positive light . So you do not sound '' nuts '' when you say you do not wish to hurt crystals . YOU are a '' special unique person'' who needs some help , not '' nut''s . Maybe because of the '' depression '' you feel unworthy of any help ? ( just a thought ). It is the very nature of the illness for the thought process to be negative when a person has depression .. I know when i had depression , i had no self esteem/ confidence , and i felt inferior to other people .I know i felt quite worthless . I am unsure what a Nd is ? but getting to the very root of your depression and unearthing it with proffesional help will take you onto the healing path . I personally feel the blue and green crystals with help you . Guest guest
Can you tell me how I can find a doctor like this in the Detroit area? I have looked in the yellow pages and I cannot find anything outside of mainstream and amssage and accupuncture. Thanks. , " James and Elizabeth Carlson " <peepers wrote: > > Go get your thyroid and all hormones checked. I was in a situation > sort of like yours years ago. Guest guest
Amen!! I have found this to be true as well. I am a firm believer in GABA and have had positive results from using it. >>>>>GABA was a real life saver for me and it worked pretty quick. After experiencing the results of this particular substance, I am totally convinced that depression is a metabolic condition.
Guest guest
I'd like to jump in on this conversation while it's going on. I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder as a child and I still suffer it. I also suffer general Anxiety and heavy mood swings. For the most part I've become Miserable and Hopeless and quite Depressed. I'm 30 years old with no hope for my future anymore. I had bailed out on my beliefs for almost 3 years trying to be someone else, trying to abandon who I AM. But I've found my way back and still have my crystals, they are the one thing I never lost, tho I did lose faith for a while. For me it's like taking an aspirin for a gunshot wound - it does very little at best. Like laying in a crystal cave is what I need to heal. BUt I'm coming out of it (depression), I'm following guided meditations and carrying my stones again. I'm also taking an all natural herbal remedy to battle my anxiety. My favorite stone is Labradorite. I also love my only Moonstone pendant. Any other recommendations Lady Silver? Guest guest
Hi Perdita, For anxiety and depression I always reccomend gemstones with a high lithium content,...which would be kunzite, sugilite and lepidolite ( and varieties of them). Golden C crystal which is hard to come by has a chemical composition almost identical to Co Q 10 the nutritional supplement recommeded for many thing. Guest guest
Hello everyone and Perdita Raine It does appear that in many cases depression and anxiety go hand in hand .I believe that anxiety disorders can be a fear with some people ( as with me ) ; a fear of something that may happen in your future .I think it could be a '' fear '' of something that has not happened , but you fret it may .This '' fear '' creates nervousness/anxiety and ultimately panic .I feel the word '' petrified '' perfectly sums up the feeling of panic and anxiety . The mind i believe can create a reality in your head . An another example ; if someone told you often enough you were hopeless or stupid ; you would end up believing it . I do sometimes wonder if a lifes '' trauma '' kick starts this disorder . For what ever reason we have this in our lives , i am sure we can all agree , it can take over your life . I have been seeing a therapist/ Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to assist me with my '' think '' patterns . I am pleased to say i no longer require to see him .Now I am feeling 'calm and well .I will add for me my CBT sessions allowed me to discuss my worries/anger/fears and kept me from tipping over the edge . But ultimately something changed in my life ( just a few weeks ago ) that eraticated my fears . I am aware this is a crystal discussion group so i am not going to go into too much detail, as i feel i am swaying from crystal chat . .I will add though that the better understanding I would have of anothers '' depression/anxiety ( or any other problem ) the easier it is too help with crystals. I say this as i feel the words '' abandoning who i am '' may suggest a dislike of yourself . In this case a crystal to allow you to love yourself would be beneficial . The two crystals you mention are perfect , also Green adventurine, Ametrine ,and Fluorite. Fluorite comes in many colors. It carries an energy that can bring a calming to chaos. Ametrine and Fluorite are my favourites. I do have a question for anyone that suffers from this ; What ; if anything in your life , could possibly put an end to this .Is there anything that was removed from your life , or added that you would feel would make you feel better ?.
