Te All Concerned about Genetic Engineering of our Food,

Your comments are heard if you write- if you are concerned about the

 

way that Genetically Engineered Foods have ben snuck into our lives and

our bodies please read the following:-

Dear Dr. Henney,

I am writing to express concern over the FDA's regulation of Genetically

 

Engineered (GE) Food and to ask that the agency's current policies be

changed.

What disturbs me most are emerging studies showing that GE Foods could

create new toxins, resistance to antibiotics, allergic reactions, and

other

dietary risks. Individuals with ethical or religious dietary

restrictions

may be unwittingly consuming foods that contain genes from other

species.

In addition, GE Foods have been shown to be a significant threat to the

environment. GE agriculture puts Organic Foods at risk with organic

crops

being contaminated by " genetic drift. "

In light of these concerns, I request that:

* All GE Foods must be labeled so informed decisions on our food choices

 

can be made.

* GE Foods must not be assumed to be " generally recognized as safe " and

should have independently verified safety testing before going to

market.

* There should be a moratorium on GE Foods until long-term studies show

they are safe for human health and the environment.
