Guest guest
It is a known scientific fact that music can make plants grow bigger and healthier. Does anyone have any research on this working on humans? I'm currently doing some major research in this area and could use all the source referrence material I can find. Also, if music works so well, why not poetry and other aesthetic forms??? Makes sense to me. So, with list agreement, I'd like to invite y'all to post your poems and prose. Errrr, remember list rules in regards, MLM and Religious criticism. Although, who'd ever write a poem about an MLM (welllll maybe a lampoon or two), but absolutely nothing critisizing another's religion. Humorous poems and prose are especially welcome. Guest guest
I do have a bunch of info. As I unpack more I will find it and post it. It deals with the mental and emotional benefits of music and therapy. I think I have a site address. It is good for all ages but was introduced to me as a session of the benefits of teaching children through music and with music in the back ground. Let me see what I can do. Music therapy is the prescribed use of music and musical interventions in order to restore, maintain, and improve emotional, physical, physiological, and spiritual health and well-being. Within this definition are the key elements which define interventions as music therapy. Music therapy is prescribed by members of the client's treatment team. Members can include doctors, social workers, psychologists, teachers, case workers, or parents. Music is the primary therapeutic tool. Using music to establish a trusting relationship, the music therapist then works to improve the client's physical and mental functioning through carefully structured activities. Examples can include singing, listening, playing instruments, composition, moving to music, and music and imagery exercises. Music is administered by a trained music therapist. A music therapist's education and training is extensive. Musical interventions are developed and used by the therapist based on his/her knowledge of the music's affect on behavior, the client's strengths and weaknesses, and the therapeutic goals. Music therapy is received by a client and it targets a wide range of clinical populations and client ages. Music therapy works towards specific therapeutic goals and objectives. Goal area include communicative, academic, motor, emotional, and social skills. It is important to be aware that while clients may develop their musical skills during treatment, these skills are not the primary concern of the therapist. Rather it is the affect such musical development might have on the client's physical, psychological and socio-economical functioning. -------------------------------- http://members.home.net/msel68/ personal pages devoted to music therapy --- http://www.vcm.bc.ca/mus-ther.html Victoria Conservatory of Music ---- http://www.hisf.no/njmt/ NORDIC JOURNAL OF MUSIC THERAPY --------- http://www.music.indiana.edu/music_resources/mtherapy.html William and Gayle Cook Music LibraryIndiana University School of MusicWorldwide Internet Music Resources
