  • 4 months later...

1 quart rose petals packed tightly 3 cups water 1 pkg. sure jel 2 tab. lemon juice 4 cups sugar ( once again I have tried honey - but doesn't work) Heat water and petals to boiling. Steep 20 minutes. Pushing petals through water much of the time. Measure liquid and add enough water to make 3 cups.Mix liquids with sure jel and lemon juice. Bring to a boil( glass/stainless steel) on high heat. Add sugar, bring to hard rolling boil and boil 1 minute.Remove from heat- stir in some freash petals- stir until petals no longer float- put in jars while still hot- I have found something that is a natural pectin that you can use honey in jelly/jam and it will still set up- can't remember the name right now- will find it and let everyne know. Also my grandma put red food coloring in this to make it look like roses- without it it doesn't have that pretty red tint. ( I don't use the food coloring) JuneGet your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
