Guest guest
My 9 yod has an itch that gets around her mouth, her eyes (where the eyelashes come out), and her eyebrows. I believe it is Candida. It always seems to start on her mouth after she's eaten a lot of holiday candy (this outbreak is from Christmas), then I think she spreads it to her eyes by touching/rubbing around the mouth first. She can't resist rubbing her itchy eyes when she's in the shower (the warm/hot water). She keeps rubbing her eyelashes out (eyebrows too). It started out where she'd just lose a few eyelashes, and then once in awhile she'd rub quite a few of them out. But now it's gotten to where she can't leave them alone long enough for a good set of eyelashes to grow back where she has almost none. I thought I finally got smart when I discovered that fresh, homemade yogurt helped remedy the problem. But if we miss one day of letting globs of yogurt set on her eyes for 20 minutes (plus or minus, depending on how it's going), when she takes a shower, she again rubs out whatever eyelashes she has left. We've used Similasan homeopathic eye drops for allergies, and that helps, but only to a degree. Interesting note: they didn't itch much when we started drinking a raw egg, molasses, almond, apricot drink daily, for about a week (this is part of the formula Doc recommended for me to increase my iron and protein). We ran out of almonds. We've missed a day altogether a couple of times. And she's starting to itch again, just when we were making progress. I have also quit sitting with her during a yogurt treatment to keep the stuff from running down her face. Now she just dabs a little on herself now and then. Sometimes she'll do this at night too (we have to be careful though because one night when she put a lot on and fell asleep, the kitty licked it all off!). Yes, she probably has animal allergies too. (My husband has severe allergies in his side of the family.) She thinks she's allergic to the rabbits. I guess I should find them new homes since it has been so hard for her to grow her eyelashes back. (But I really think it's Candida because of the rash she gets around her mouth. I have Candida, and my itches, seemingly-impossible-to-get-rid-of athletes foot, etc. doesn't help her any.) I should try the Eyebright tincture. I have Dr. Christopher's Herbal Eyebright formula in capsules. I could make that into a tea and try it. I'd probably have to make it fresh every other day. But I'd really like something that is easier to do if we have to live with this problem. I can't support her nutritional needs much more adequately right now if it's going to cost a lot. So what would be the best things to start with? Is it probable that the protein drink was really making a difference? Does she need to cut out dairy? (I've tried to get her to.) Work on a gentle cleansing? Most of all, how can we get her eyes to stop itching!? Thanks for any help. Sorry this is so long. We've been suffering a long time with this and I just have to ask for help. Cheryl
Guest guest
Hi, Cheryl. We have had to deal with this problem at our house (though not in the eyes), and treated it with diet, lactobaccillus acidophilus, and real raw garlic. For me personally, it took about two months to clear my system of Candida. I started with a colonic, fasted for a few days, ate veggies only for a few days, then for a few months eliminated ALL forms of sugar (white sugar, raw sugar, honey, fruit sugars, etc), ate grains in moderation, and ate dairy very sparingly. I took the l.a. and ate a clove of raw garlic daily. Then after that I went back to eating pretty mormally. I was trying to get rid of recurrent vaginal yeast infections and chronic fatigue, which I did succeed, but as a by-product I got rid of itching ears that I never realized were due to yeast (ever since I was a kid, my ears had bugged me!) I know there are some herbs/tinctures you can use for yeast, but you'd better make sure her diet is altered as well, so you can get to the root of the problem also. Guest guest
See answers below. Ian "Doc" Shillington N.D.505-772-5889Dr.IanShillington I should try the Eyebright tincture. I have Dr. Christopher's Herbal Eyebright formula in capsules. I could make that into a tea and try it. Most definitely. You could even make a tincture out of it, but I'd recommend the eyebright fomentations using the tea. I'd probably have to make it fresh every other day. Every day would be best, but every other day and kept in the fridge would be second best. But I'd really like something that is easier to do if we have to live with this problem. You're on the right track with the Total Nutrition protein drink, and I'd cut back on dairy to see if that made a difference but add it back in if it didn't. The same thing happened to my niece and it ended up being a gluten intolerance so you might want to cut out the grains unless they've been sprouted. As far as the itching is concerned, the eyebright drops and fomentations should handle this. On the positive side of things, she will grow out of it and down the road have lovely eyelashes and eyebrows. Love, Doc
Guest guest
Thank you very much for the input, Doc. I do, however, have another question, and that is: What do you mean by the following? On the positive side of things, she will grow out of it and down the road have lovely eyelashes and eyebrows. How is it that she will grow out of it? Do you mean with improved and balanced nutrition? Or are you saying that in time it will go away by itself? Or what? ~Cheryl
Guest guest
Without doing anything, my niece grew out of the condition as she went past puberty and grew the most beautiful set of eyelashes I've seen in a while. However, I'm sure your daughter will get rid of the condition much quicker (and safer) with improved and balanced nutrition. Guest guest
Good advice Constancia and I know what you mean by discovering a little goodie while handling something else. That was the way I developed my Varicose Vein treatment which completely got rid of my humongous VV's. I was only trying to handle a blood clot at the time. Guest guest
Thank you, Constancia. This is encouraging. I've always heard/read that even after following the diet, the Candida will return, so I figured I would just learn to live with it. My symptoms are tolerable, but my poor daughter... I am considering Doc's advice to me to do the Total Body Cleanse to clear it up.
