Guest guest
I have a question, hope its not too elementary :-) I have just discovered that dandelions have taken over my 3 raised beds from last summer as I've been too ill to walk down to the garden on our property all winter to see what's been happening there........I exaggerate not when I tell you they are 4 feet tall...maybe more!!! They seem quite contented there....hubby will be pulling them out as soon as our rains let up.......so my question is .... can I use the roots? Is there a particular time to harvest the dandelion root? What do I do with it if I *can* harvest this? I'm totally new at this and have never tinctured anything yet...though I have my herb books now and I'm ready to learn! Do I have to dry the root or use it fresh? What proportions do I use? I will peruse my books some more, but thought I'd ask you who are experienced first :-)) thank you so much! Guest guest
Fern you lucky girl ;o) Best bet is to kill the grass and let the dandelions grow in wild abandon. You can use the flower, the stems, the leaves and the roots in teas, salads, tinctures etc etc. It is a very versatile plant. Get your books out and get creative here. Guest guest
Dandelion is great for the liver. If you eat some in a salad you are infact helping to cleanse your liver.
