Guest guest
I have a question maybe someone can answer. About a year ago I had trouble sleeping. I tried valerian root as I heard it was good for problems like this. It had the effect of caffeine on me. I was up all night had lots of short dreams. What a wild night! I tried it two other times after that and the same thing occured. does anyone know why that is? I have a friend who uses it and she says it knocks her out cold and she gets a great night's sleep. Thanks, Cathy
Guest guest
I used to take valerian at night when I had really severe menstrual cramps. For a while it relaxed me, relieved the cramps, and helped me sleep. Though I will admit I had a " drugged " feeling the next day. After a while it stopped working and I had the reaction you described, short disruptive dreams and a very " hyper " feeling. I read somewhere that valerian can affect some people like that and even change its effectiveness over time like it did with me, but I can't remember where I read it. In February I had surgery for Endometriosis so I am hoping the severe cramps will become less so over the next few months. Now when I need to take the edge off to sleep well I use kava kava. I've also found that magnesium before bed has helped me sleep much better. Now that I am no longer lurking, any suggestions for balancing hormones to keep the endo from growing back and to shrink an ovarian cyst. I've come up with my own concoction based on a few resources but I am always interested in other ideas. Guest guest
Dear Bobbi Sue.....I have a daughter who had very intense cramps a few years ago.So intense that she would vomit from the pain. She started using the Female Formula ( from Ian) and within a couple of months her pain was sorted out. She never has a period like that now as long as she takes the herbs and watches her diet..She could have had " endometriosis " . We are confident that it is all sorted out. She has discovered that if she has a big dose of suger (A piece of cake is big to her) anytime during the month ,and especially close to the onset of her period, she will have to take extra herbs , minerals etc to counter the sugar effects on the body.Amazing huh?.I highly recommend the Female Formula to you.....Mary Ostrowski - " Bobbi Sue Bowers " <bookmom3 <herbal remedies > Friday, April 13, 2001 8:52 AM Re: [herbal remedies] valerian root > I used to take valerian at night when I had really severe menstrual > cramps. Guest guest
Hi Mary, Thanks. I'll check out the Female Formula. I have similar reactions to sugar. To make it worse there is usually a time just before my period when I crave carbs and sugary things. Thanks again, Bobbi Sue On Sat, 14 Apr 2001 09:20:35 -0700 " Ostrowski " <Odesign1 writes: > Dear Bobbi Sue.....I have a daughter who had very intense cramps a > few years > ago.So intense that she would vomit from the pain.
