I make no excuses for myself. Although according to my therapist - my reactions were NOT unique. More the norm actually. You are a very remarkable person. And I notice that you are male. Intuition tells me that you may not have processed ALL of your abuse issues. I suspect there may be other layers lurking in the background (your subconscious mind). If that is the case, they will surface when the time is right. In any case, all individuals are different. If I were you - I would not hold everyone to your high standard of achievement regarding trauma resolution. Some people may need a short course of SSRI drugs (Zoloft etc) - during the body-memory processing. The drug companies would like to for you to think that once you start an SSRI - it's for life. Absolutely not true! However - there are some excellent herbal alternatives. Dr. Peter Breggin has written several books about it. I would go for the herbs first if medication is needed. But I would not rule out SSRI's. Bad as they are (and SSRI's are not good news) - it's better than death.
