Guest guest
Hi Folks: Just a note to tell everyone that eGroups has changed the way they handle bounced mail; if you find that you are not getting mail from the list after a problem with your email, server or computer, please go over to eGroups and check your status. If you bounce mail for three consecutive days, the server will stop trying to send mail to you, and you will be unsubbed if the problem is not cleared up promptly. The easiest and quickest way for you to check this is to visit the website yourself, but if you have any problems, please contact the owner address (it's in the signature line of the posts if you don't have it in your address book) and we will try to help you. If you are unsubbed for bouncing, you may have to reapply so we can get you back on the list again. This is from the Help File at eGroups, regarding account status. Q. What does it mean if my account status is Normal? Not confirmed? Bouncing? A. Your account status is reported in the My Profile section of your My Groups page. Your account status reports whether you can receive email, post messages, and access member-only areas of eGroups: Normal You are a member in good standing, and can send and receive email. Not Confirmed You haven't yet replied to your confirmation email, and therefore cannot post messages or receive email from your groups. To have your confirmation message resent to you, click " Request confirmation email. " Bouncing Your email account has stopped accepting messages, because, for example, your inbox is full or your Internet Service Provider is returning messages addressed to you. As long as your status is Bouncing, you cannot send or receive messages. Bouncing status occurs after eGroups has attempted and failed to deliver messages to your address for 3 consecutive days. Unless you reset your status, you will not receive new messages. You can reset Bouncing status by clicking the Reset button beneath Member Profile. Auto-responder If your account sends out too many messages in a short period of time, our system will suspend your account with the status of Auto-responder. Unusually high message volume is often an indication of an email program set to auto-reply with an " I'm-on-vacation " type of message. As long as your status is Auto-responder, you cannot send or receive messages. You can prevent this by setting all of your group delivery options to " No Mail/Web Only " before you go on vacation. If you wish to reset an account with Auto-responder status, you will need to contact eGroups. Inactive Your account has been terminated because of a violation of the eGroups Terms of Service. You will need to contact eGroups regarding this. -- Thanks for your attention. Caroline
