Guest guest
A couple of Monday morning thoughts from Liverpool: Firstly, about the concept of distant healing ... can I use an analogy? Just over 100 years ago most people would have scoffed at the idea of being able to send messages over the airwaves, then Oliver Lodge (and later Marconi) proved them wrong. Bell, Baird and everyone else then went on to make wireless and apparently miraculous transmission of sound and vision, across the world, almost instananeously. We take it for granted now, being able to pick up a mobile phone and talk to a friend on another continent, or turning on the TV and watching what's happening around the world, as it happens. Is it impossible to think that with distant healing and all energy work we are simply using the same concept, but using our own bodies/minds rather than mechanical devices? Perhaps in a couple of decades the concept of sending and receiving energy, healing, and all the other good things we talk about on this list, will be a matter of fact and no longer supposition or belief. And to the point about permission for sending distant healing .... while I believe we are all responsible for both our actions and for much of what happens to us, and while I agree 100% that forcing anything down anyone's throat is not a good idea, there are times when I have deliberately done something harmful to myself (little things, like being bolshy to someone I want to love me, or demanding to be left alone when I'm actually desperate to be hugged) when I want exactly the opposite. Sometimes other people's responses don't mirror what they actually want - we're not always in the best position to be open about our needs. I'm not sure, either, that we 'heal' anyone .... I'm more inclined to think that all we do is use our therapeutic skills of whatever kind to offer encouragement and the extra resource (energy, touch, understanding etc) to others to help them heal themselves. We can offer whatever we like, but there is no way we can force the other to accept it or use it. Just like advice!!!! How many times have we been given advice and ignored it UNTIL we are ready to hear it and act on it? I can remember lots of people telling me things years ago that I am just now realising were right (dammit!) .... So like Vitamin C, perhaps we only absorb the healing we need, when we need it, and let the rest go. It's just brilliant reading/responding to these sorts of discussions - SO positive and hopeful. It's irresistible! Enjoy your week Arabella
