Guest guest
Hello, everyone! I've been reading, with great interest, the threads involving healing for pets, as I am highly involved in the pet world. I've been a groomer for dogs and cats, an exhibitors' assistant (for show dogs), and a rehabilitator for feral cats (domestic cats gone wild. My job was to help make them more adoptable. This wasn't paid work--it was a labor of love.). I also have interests in training dogs for both obedience and service work for the handicapped, and I would love to find more horses to befriend. Currently, I am owned by 2 cats (one of which is in my lap as I type this; the other is sitting on the computer tower, waiting for her chance to " help " ), and 1 full size Collie, who is watching from the living room, because he knows that he, too, will get his at being the focus of my attention when we go to the park later today. Before I even got introduced to Reiki, I _knew_ for a fact that cats and dogs had different energies, for I'd been befriending animals since I was a very small girl, using various techniques that I had either learned from my mother, or channelled from _somewhere_ (who knows where). I don't know how to describe the energy or the differences in energy between individual animals and different species of animals, I just know that it is there, and that I use it to advantage in my work with the animals. I feel that there is a sort of " Universal " energy common to all animals, with additional " species specific " and " breed specific " energy, which trickles down even further to make up the energy field of that particular animal. I feel that this partially explains why we have those who vibrate well with cats/dogs/horses/what-have-you. Then, we have folks like me, who vibrate well with a number of different species within the animal kingdom. (not to brag, but, that is just the way it is with me) Anyway, since someone asked about energy healing with old dogs, I am going to focus my attention to that. I've had a couple of older dogs pass through my home, and I have to say that they really do respond to _any_ kind, loving energy, especially if it is maintained over a fairly long period of time. They are more sensitive to a " power " vibration, so I wouldn't recommend that, because many of the oldsters find it painful. A non-wavering, loving energy delivered in a slow, steady stream, works best, in my experience. When I had my last old dogs (I do miss them..but they are in a better place now), one of the rituals I would do with them, is to sit them up on the bed or on the couch (bear in mind that these were full size Collies, and I needed the space!), and I'd wrap my arms around the dog, and we'd sit or lie there, just quietly exchanging energy until we had both had enough. When the dogs got too stiff to get up onto the bed or couch, I had old quilts and blankets on the floor, and we would do our ritual that way. (If I had smaller dogs, I'd get one of those electric dog pads that keep the dogs warm..alas, they don't come in " Collie size " .) You can also do your " ritual " on walks, or trips, or whatever. It's not important how you do this..just that you do in some way or another whenever you think of it. I hope this helps, Deb
