I am a Reiki practitioner with 9 outdoor cats and a dog. Sometimes I wonder how much good it does them since they usually wander off pretty quickly. But lately I have been giving Reiki to one of my cats. And he's giving me the loudest purrs of his life as his " payment. " The vet checked him out because he was hardly able to walk, could not jump at all, had lost control of his bowel and bladder and couldn't move his tail. Found out he had a fracture of the pelvis and another one of the tail. But there was nothing the vet could do for him. So I've been Reiki'ing him when I can for short time periods and the healing has been really good over the last few weeks. He no longer seems to have the bladder and bowel losses. He can move his tail a little and jump short distances. He can even jog a bit when the others are getting fed ahead of him! So go for it! Guest guest
Leslie-- Thanks for the response. We've been sending energy to our three dogs and the two older ones seem to be benefiting. One of the old boys had a bit of a setback with his heart condition recently, but " bounced back " quite quickly (more quickly than his people, I'm afraid). We take our first-degree Reiki class at the end of the month, and I'm really looking forward to the positive effects it will have on our pets and other loved ones. What a wonderful experience you and your cat are sharing now. Thank you for sharing such a positive example with us, it's certainly a confirmation that this is something really positive that we can all do to help our best friends. Be well, Florie PS: The quote you used below is my absolute favorite bit of wisdom from the Talmud. It's so beautiful and visual--can't you just picture the angel whispering lovingly to the blade of grass? Thank you for reminding me of it. - " Leslie Barns " <wbarns Friday, October 13, 2000 10:39 AM Reiiki for pets > > The vet checked him out because he was hardly able to walk, could not jump > at all, had lost control of his bowel and bladder and couldn't move his > tail. If you are also a teacher have you ever contemplated attuning your pets. I both practice and teach Reiki and have attuned several of my pets. It takes a bit of adaptation for the process since they are less likely to hold still and their bodies are shaped differently than ours but well worth the effort. They have amazed me (yes their paws do get hot when their Reiki is on and are cool when it is not) by giving me Reiki when I need it most and also they seem to accept Reiki from each other sometimes more readily and for longer periods than from me.
