Guest guest
Florie: It is always interesting when something enters your life like a reminder to pay attention. I went to an estate in St. Francisville, Louisiana several years ago around this time of year where there were many peacocks wandering the grounds and spent awhile gathering their shed plumage; they had a white peacock there; I'd never seen one before. It was at a time that I was learning to feel my own power and assert myself in the role of teacher and leader; that same weekend, on my birthday, I led a hike along a rigorous trail with seven waterfalls that I had planned meditations/activities for at each site. We gathered water from each waterfall and upon our return mixed it all in a punch bowl, dividing it into smaller containers so that everyone could take some home with them. Recently a friend of mine moved to Florida, and had me sort through some boxes of clothes in her basement to see if I wanted any of them... and in them was a beautiful black dress with a sequined collar in a peacock feather design. I am taking it as a signal that it is " that time of year " again for me, and I'm opening my heart and mind for new ways that I can express my " self " in authenticity and honor. I think that pride is like pepper; when used in the right amount it adds flavor and life to food, but too much can be unpleasant and unpalatable for the tongue and the gut. A good cook knows that even though they may like the hot stuff, not everyone at their table can tolerate it, and moderates accordingly. With a powerful ally like the crow around, I am constantly moderating that balance in myself to avoid being loud and overbearing, to avoid acquisitiveness and subvert my natural tendencies toward depression with introspection and awareness. Each ally has wonderful lessons; some come and go in our lives as we learn, some stay with us for our lifetime as a representation of soul tasks. I am always interested and surprised by the animals that return with me for people I do power animal retrievals for. Blessings, Crow " Look for Rainbows in the Darkness " " Richard M.
