Guest guest
Sandra: From the NLP/Time Line Therapy point of view there is: Old fear, attached to past, unresolved conflicts, perhaps even past life stuff. This is not so good. Old, no longer valid fears held in the body are a double bind because the unconscious is just trying to let us know that it thinks we are at risk, to protect us, but at the same time the fear takes a huge toll on our health, which harms us. Also, some one who is holding a lot of fear is often also afraid to make the change to get rid of the old fear, because it's a protective mechanism. So making that change is your leap of faith. This is where you use everything in the arsenal to maintain your health, identify the source of the fear and acquire the learnings needed to let it go. There is (in my opinion) no single right way to do it. Everyone is different and use what works for you. New fear is generated by the assessment by your unconscious mind of events and the environment, with the result that your unconscious thinks you're at risk somehow. This is a Good Thing. Ongoing fear can be about some real physical/environmental/social problem (i.e. mercury poisoning), that is outside of consciousness. A systematic assessment of your (holistic) health and environment may identify something you have not yet noticed. Fear, by itself in the pure form, is a fabulous tool for communicating with our own unconscious and a useful tool for making decisions. Anxiety is fear placed on the expectation of the negative results of a future event. Often (not always) this is simply a habit pattern, like smoking cigarettes. You can shift this one with any behavioural modification program that suits you, like hypnosis, and the key is to start thinking about and expecting positive outcomes for future events. In my experience, Reiki will remove old fear, when directed to the location in the body where the fear is felt, if the client has already learned everything they need to know about the root problem. I also recommend that you check with the Time Line Therapy Association TLTA for the name of a Practitioner in your area, that you can talk to about that process. There have been a number of other informative suggestions on the egroup and you are doing the absolutely right thing for yourself. Which is finding out what is available to assist you towards your good old fearless self. Take Care! Jim p.s. Courage is action in spite of fear, and You act courageously all the time... Jim, I really like the way this sentence caused me to think!! Thank you for such a profound statement. Could it also be said that fear (and anger) may have at its root, an unmet expectation? As I look at what used to be my anger, I see many unmet expectations from myself and those around me. Once I stopped expecting anything and allowed my life to happen, I became a much more loving person. Blessings Francie
