Guest guest
Hi Folks: This is a simple reminder for everyone; in the FAQ I have specifically requested that members not send forwarded mail to this forum. You have plenty of people in your address book to mail these things to (please don't do that either), and believe me, most of them have been on the Net for years. It's a little known fact that forwarding chain mail is against the TOS of most email servers, and is classified like spam, because it can disable a network if one of these things really takes off and everyone passes it along to everyone they know. We have a very large group here, and don't want this sort of traffic to disturb the flow of discussion :-) In addition, you might seriously consider, that although you mean well, you are passing along a hoax or a chain letter. I am always particularly disturbed by a post if it has been forwarded several times already, and if there is some " urgency " related to it... believe me, I have seen most of these posts before along my tenure on the Net. If you have any question at all about a post you are considering, PLEASE send it to me first and if it is valid and useful I will pass it along to the group. Here is a website where you might read about some of the hoaxes, chain mail, urban legends, virus warnings, health scares, etc. that are perpetually being circulated through email: http://urbanlegends.about.com And another, on how to recognize whether a post was put together by someone with too much time on their hands: http://www0.delphi.com/navnet/legends/summarylegends.html Just some words to the wise, and to the not-so-net-savvy, on how to keep your netiquette straight when the spam winds are blowing. Thank you very much. Caroline > Fw: Fw: Cancer (DO NOT DELETE) - You must forward!!!!! >

Yo Crow ;o) you forgot to mention that that one of the original adressees will have been a spam harvester; anyone who did respond to that email now has their address on a spam list. Worth avoiding.
