SOAP ?

Hi all Ginger here, here's a quick question for you all. I make some great M & P

soaps but I want to make some other soaps that contain lye. Here's my problem.

Where do you get the lye? Can you help me out?

TIA

Ginger

Rose Otto and Rose Candles

Hey Carol,

> I hear alot of talk about this Rose Otto.

Based on the statement below, its probably not as much as you should be

hearing .. ;-p

> I am not sure what it is but I know I never like the strong

> overpowering scents of most Rose oils or candles....

Go here and you can see what it is and how its harvested and made:

http://www.av-at.com/distillation/rosadamascena1.html

http://www.av-at.com/stuff/rosedistillation.html

http://www.av-at.com/stuff/rosefields1.html

There's a big difference twixt Rose Oils and Rose Candles .. I doubt

anybody would use Rose Otto in a candle .. or in a herbal soap either.

And there's a helluva big difference twixt Turkish Rosa damascena and

" most " Rose Oils.

But if you generally dislike the smell of Rose .. it means you would

probably dislike mine a bit less than the others .. ;-)

Re: Rose Otto and Rose Candles

Rose makes just about everything better! Even chocolate!

I add rose oil to a candle every now and again and it is lovely!

Once, I made these little rose votives for a customer who was to give

them to a prince's mistress.( that little lucky bitch er girl)

I am not bragging, it was a one time thing and the customer supplied

the rose oil. I felt so lucky to even make such a gorgeous thing!

It is the most precious of all the oils to me.

Yes, I will use other oils, neroli is something I like right now, but

boy a woman cannot pass up such natural beauty!

Hi Ginger :)

Great to have ya here. Our resident Emu recipe lady (Sarah) is offline

great ideas for ya. Feel free to jump in any time and ask or answer any

Hmmm, lets see. Its hard to describe it ... but it contains lavender,

sandalwood, lemongrass, fennel, patchouli (and more ) if that helps at

all ....... :-D

Aww, thank ya ma'am :)

I suppose I can start to make my oil blends that I use for the incense

to scent the soaps! :)

Mmmm, by Autumn I will have that ready (and that Autumn incense is my

ultimate personal favorite too)

Cooking With Clove Oil (Was Re: OT: Kentucky Burbon and other Little

Treats)

Yumm,

What are the gals cooking with the clove oil, Butch? Can they share a

recipe with us, maybe, please? :)

I made a GREAT pumpkin pie with clove oil in it .. but just be warned

folks, that clove oil is STRONG stuff, and even one drop in a recipe may

be overpowering, so remember to dilute that good stuff before ya add any

to the food :) More can always be added, but ya can't take it away once

its in there.
