Hello Anne-Louise,

> What problems might be brought on by the kundalini experience?

The problem is, the misinterpretation of the actual experience which can

be distorted due to the lower nature, which are Survival, Sexual,

Emotional ,which correspond to the first, second, and third Chakras, the

change in perception brought about by kundalini activation requires a

total reorientation, which can only be brought about by pure

nonjudgement of the experience.

This is why, all of the teachings of old are all based upon self

purification. If you have been through the self purification, then

gradually activated the chakras under strict guidance, you would have no

problem, but alas there are many that have not, manifested that path.

Kind Regards

Dennis...

prematurly. This sounds so scary to me.How common is

this of happening? Is it that easy to trigger or a rare

The big problem with the kundalini question, is that

so few people know what it really is. Further, there

is a lack of understanding of the bodies etheric

system, the chakras, and the planes of vibration. This

does not make for easy learning for those who are

without a teacher of genuine attainment.

I will do my best to explain.

Kundalini is a highly refined energy which rises up

the shushumna channel through the spine, until it

reaches the crown of the head. In order to do this

there must be no blockages in the etheric (energy)

body, and both the Grande (between the solar plexus

and the heart, and at the throat) 'gateways' must be

fully opened. In addition to this, the etheric system

must be ready for the extreme 'voltage' of kundalini.

Anyone who has truly 'raised' Kundalini (and there are

very very few) are Masters. Not suddenly or

instantaneously, because much illumination is gained

through the preparation over many years of effort. I

know one Master personally, and it took him 10 years

preparation. The effect of Kundalini is a state higher

than Enlightenment known as Liberation.

Alongside Kundalini (which is a singular, unified

energy) are two channels which run up the sides of the

spine, Ida and Pingala. These sit in the realm of

opposition, and are balanced in the Adept prior to

Kundalini being raised. It IS possible to send a bolt

of energy through one of these channels, which are

very powerful in their own right (these are the

channels that control powers) and to mistakenly

believe that you have raised Kundalini. This can

result in strange abilities and is usually accompanied

by terrible side effects. One chap I read about who

was trying to raise Kundalini actually succeeded in

opening the Pingala channel, which gave him access to

the fire element. He could mentally direct a sheet of

paper to burn from a distance, but couldn't control

the energy and could not sleep properly, and was in

terrible pain, like a burning sensation, until he

eventually managed to shut it off again. Fortunately,

it is also a fleeting energy, in that it comes and

goes and is not consistant, and he recognised that he

had not raised Kundalini at all, but had opened this

channel.

The reward of Kundalini is is the All-Self

Knowing-Liberated state of awareness which puts a

continual, controllable charge through ALL of the

chakras, all of the time. This is why a Master is

always calm, harmonious and centred, and is never

short of power.

It is possible to have a mental 'shock', where the

illumined or enlightened state is achieved by

'accident'. This can occurr through exreme breathing

exercises or drug use (I know someone this happened

to, and he's been affected by it ever since). The

problem is that these people do not understand what

has happened to them, and it can leave the recipient

is a great deal of mental anguish from which they

might never recover. Certainly, it does not leave them

Illuminated, and has not provided any visible benefit

at all.

(At this point, I decided to check out the URL's you

sent - Interesting is it not, that my comments

concerning the Ida and Pingala channels being confused

with Kundalini are mimicked in these letters and

symptoms. I.e. Intense hot and cold, twitching, lack

of sex drive, sleeping disorder, and use of drugs).

My conclusion on the people who submitted letters and

the website itself is that we have yet more people who

are making assumptions about Kundalini, and who do not

understand the energetic mechanism of the body, and

are unaware of the appropriate preparation.

Just to finish. You don't actually need to raise

Kundalini to achieve Liberation. Just thought I'd

mention it!!

Hope this helps.

-Anne-Louise.

>HI!I went to that last site mentioned about what could

>happen if you awakened the kundalini energy

May be related, may be not:

A couple of years ago someone I was very fond of committed suicide. Just

this very week I was looking through some old backups and found an interview

he'd given my wife when she was working in mental health provision in our

home city.

(let's call him Brian) According to the interview Brian's problems had begun

when he'd attended a 'life improvement' course. He'd felt elated,

'god-like', changed. Unfortunately the state didn't last, he didn't attend

the follow up sessions, and he ended up having a psychotic episode which put

him in a psychiatric hospital for a couple of months. The experience

scarred him, and it was when he was heading (or believed he was heading) for

another episode that he killed himself.

I think I remember Carl Rogers the psychotherapist talking about the problem

of sending people out of therapeutic environments back into real life and

expecting their changes to be well received and to hold. I suspect the

warnings that are applied to Kundalini should be applied to any attempt to

affect a life change.

Anna-Louise

thank you for the education you put it very well. My understanding of the

kundalini is that it is coiled at the bade of the spine and is awakened

through breathing yoga meditation purification of the body and mind. It

doesn't necessarily mean a bolt lightening experience the energy is very

subtle light joyful and liberating I feel it all comes from the breath and

bringing more prana into the body and breathing into the space of one's

being. having body awareness. thank you again
