I am involved in creating a nonprofit organization and would also like to see this information. You can't believe how we have wrestled with Mission Statement and such like. It would help greatly to have some sort of guidelines. Anukki www.AnniesHands.com
Guest guest
I am back from Peru and have finally gone back on mail after trying to catch up with all that is on the archives. I have a request especially for those in Massachusetts. Is there anyone out there that has written Articles of Organization for a nonprofit that has gone on to successfully attain get the 501c3? I need help. The AOO's are very important and the first step - if written incorrectly the 501c3 will be jeopardized. The next email I am going to send will be an article about Peru. I am setting up a nonprofit to bring complimentary healthcare training to low income areas from Canada to Chile. In the beginning I am concentrating on shiatsu but eventually hope to bring reiki and other training programs to places of need (actually all places need it but some have no access at all to allopathic care either). Looks like the salt stuff was well covered earlier this month. Let me say that in the jungle our biggest concern was not bugs and snakes but dehydration. I got some rehydration powder by the name of cyra lyte but it tastes horrible - rather thick even when very diluted - and refrigerated it only lasts 24 hours. In emergencies I had it available. We chose to use powdered Gatorade and dilute it - I do this when I cycle as well - full strength is not better - I always water it down. On our second day of clinic our pharmacist " went down " . We had to put two little school desks together, lay her out and hang an IV off an exposed beam. This was an experienced traveler but had been sick before leaving the states and the extreme heat and the fact that she is a bit out of shape did her in. I was not there when she started to show signs - I was interviewing a family. When I got to the clinic she was already vomiting. Someone had given her a salt pill and it sent her over the edge - too much. I always carry lightly salty snacks with me like " goldfish " and drink so much water. It was easy to go through a full camel back in the matter of 3 hours. Even with all the intake my fingers never swelled but I sure sweated and pee'ed. Kidney function - maybe it should be checked. I use Japanese acupressure techniques for strengthening the kidney/adrenals resulting in proper water absorption. Thanks - and if anyone can help me out in wording these documents I will be so so so so grateful. gilmore 781-784-0750 Thanks Patricia Gilmore, C.M.Ht. Guest guest
Hi Patricia: WELCOME BACK! It certainly sounds like your journey was very exciting and productive. Unfortunately I know about as much about non-profits as I do sea monkeys. A good approach might be to locate some non-profits in your area and interview them about the process. I have some information somewhere about non-profits but it is more angled towards establishing a church than a healthcare organization. Good luck finding the info you need. And thanks for the article! Blessings, Crow " Look for Rainbows in the Darkness " " P.M.Gilmore, C.M.Ht.
