Guest guest
Hi Group and thanks in advance for your input! It seems that I remember reading on the sigificance of the left and right sides of the body, in terms of illness, etc -- from Louise Hay? or Caroline Myss? My daughter is asking; she tends to have more problems on her left side than her right, and I cannot recall what I read! Thank you and Namaste, Ellen
Guest guest
Hi Ellen: Probably you are remembering information from Louise Hay, but another source you might explore is Debbie Shapiro's " Bodymind Workbook " . If you can find a copy, Ken Dychtwald's " " is another good resource for mind-body correlation of physical dysfunction with emotional and energetic issues. The left side is generally considered to be the " female " or receptive side, the yin energy side of the body. It has to do with the ability to release or let go, to go with the flow, to deal with the past and to accept love and nurturing. The right side is more " masculine " or assertive, the yang energy side, which deals more with moving forward, making decisions, etc. In other words, the right is more of the doing side, and the left is more of the being side. Hope this helps. Blessings, Crow arak331 wrote: > Hi Group and thanks in advance for your input! Guest guest
<< My daughter is asking; she tends to have more problems on her left side than her right, and I cannot recall what I read! >> This is a great excuse to tell an interesting story. More than a decade ago my mom was visiting the Century Clinic in Reno, NV. It's a holistic clinic that uses electrodermal testing. [which is a fascinating story in itself] My mom was sitting on the exam table, bare-chested and Dr. Katrina Tang observed, " I see you had a mastectomy. " " Yes " , my mom replied. " But then it was probably in the cards, for my mother had breast cancer, and my mother's mother had breast cancer. " " You didn't get this cancer because of your mother; the weakness was from your father. " " But how could that be? He never had cancer. " " Yes he did. " " No, he didn't " [At this point, you should be wondering, " How the heck did Dr. Katrina claim to know that her father had had cancer, when my mom said he didn't?! " So Dr. Katrina asked my mom to close her eyes and think back on her father. She did. And suddenly it came to her. When her father had died, the autopsy showed he had testicular cancer. But when we think of a close relative, we think of them as we knew them - as living, breathing humans, not as dead bodies in a funeral home. So you can see my mom never THOUGHT of her dad as having had cancer. Dr. Katrina explained to my mother that the reason she knew about the father's cancer is because " We inherit the right half of our bodies from our fathers and the left half from out mothers. " One fascinating way you can see this difference for yourself is if you were to for example take a picture of yourself, and using computer picture editing software do the following: Cut away the left half side of your face. Then take the remaining right half of your face and rotate it 180 degrees, using the vertical left most edge of the right half as the line you rotate around. So then what you'll have is the right half of your face on the right side, and ITS mirror image on the left side. Next do the opposite, starting by cutting away the right half side of your face, so that you end up with the left half of your face on the left side, and ITS mirror image on the right side. Now, when you compare those two composite pictures, you'll see definite differences. The picture that is a composite of " two rights " should look more like your father; and the one that is a composite of your " two lefts " should look more like your mother. If you decide to do this experiment, it would be great fun if you'd post the resulting pictures of a web site and tell the list the URL [address] for the web site. Now, with all that said, there remains a PRACTICAL challenge - How can a person REMEMBER which is side comes from the father and which comes from the mother? I have a crutch suggestion to help people. Just PRETEND that you're a male chauvinist. As a male chauvinist you'll believe that the man is always right. Bingo. Now you can remember that you inherit your right side characteristics from your father. Rich in Minnesota USA " Genius is nothing but a great aptitude for patience.
