Guest guest
Hello, I am new to this group, so let me introduce myself and tell you a bit about me. I am Sheri, a single mother of three plus my nephew. I just returned to school last semester after 15 years. I am majoring in psychology. I would also like to study holistic medicine and incorporate it into my career. I have just recently discovered holistic healing and don't know much about it. A friend recommended this e group, so I joined. I have found the emails very interesting and do appreciate the information I've gotten from the group. Now I have a question I hope you can help me with. I am doing a research paper for my abnormal psych class, and was wondering if any of you could recommend research material on the subject? My topic is Dysthymia: a mild, long lasting form of depression. The object of my paper is to define, explain how to diagnos, traditional treatment and alternative treatments, focusing mainly on the alternatives. If you can offer any helpful websites or books on the subject, I would really appreciate any help. Thank you, Sheri
Guest guest
Hi Sheri, try these websites...they are search engines of medical literature databases that will be very good for finding information on the 'traditional' treatments and diagnosis. (Although dysthmia is a psychological disorder the traditional treatment is unfortunately very medicalised)You can use the filters 'treatment' and 'diagnosis' to help you with this. They may also give you information about some alternative medical treatments such as St John Worts and the more common psychological therapies such as CBT. http://sumsearch.uthscsa.edu/searchform45.htm <http://sumsearch.uthscsa.edu/searchform45.htm> http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query/static/clinical.html <http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query/static/clinical.html> Hope this helps Anneliese My topic is Dysthymia: a mild, long lasting form of depression.
