Guest guest
Hi, I would like to share a different experience that I do not understand. Any feedback would be appreciated. I was told 22 yrs. ago that there was nothing " they " could for me from a very reputable neurosurgeon. I was in a prayer group at the time and received many powerful prayers. I didn't doubt the diagnosis and began the grieving process. During the first month, it became evident that the pathology report was wrong and a lesser grade tumor was rediagnosed with subsequent treatment. Recovery was a long, arduous process but the tumors became dormant. Thirteen years later, I was rediagnosed and treated with little hope that the treatment would be effective. Again, I began the grieving process. That was 9 yrs. ago. I cannot say that I did anything that should be effective except to prepare for whatever was ahead for me. I believe in visualization, etc. but practiced it as much to accept the inevitable as to change the outcome. The tumors are still present but stable according to my MRIs. I have run out of goals as I didn't believe I would be alive at this age and must replan my life. As a pastoral counselor, I often use myself as a guinea pig to understand the healing process. Thanks for any insight. Celeste

Guest guest
Thought the list would appreciate this story. MichelleH Dr. Abe? " A doctor friend of mine once told me a curious story that illustrates how the body's state of health is based on the mind's beliefs. This doctor was approached by a sweet little old lady complaining of severe abdominal pains. Upon examination, the doctor concluded that exploratory surgery was indicated, as this unfortunate soul most likely had cancer of the colon. Upon opening her up, the doctor did indeed find an extremely advanced case of cancer--it had metastasized to several organs and was inoperable. The doctor gave her three weeks at the most to live. Sadly sewing her up, he debated whether or not to tell her this awful truth. He tried but simply couldn't force himself to do it; instead, he told her she had only had gallstones, which he had removed. Deeply saddended by the failure of his science, he bade the kind old woman farewell, knowing he would never see her again. Imagine his amazement when a year later this woman walked into his office, vibrantly healthy, to tell him how alive and happy she had felt ever since her operation! The doctor examined her and found not the slightest trace of the dread disease. Mystified, he asked her if she had had any unusual experiences since he had last seen her. " No, " she replied, " but I must tell you! When I came in to see you, I was so afraid I had cancer. When you explained it was only gallstones, I was so relieved and happy that I resolved never to be ill another day in my life. " A strange coincidence? An unlikely and rare healing without known cause? Most doctors encounter such infrequent events from time to time, but having no physical explanation, they chose to ignore them, filing them under the gereral catch-all category of " spontaneous (and therefore unexplainable) remissions. " What do you think? " Abraham-Hicks Ascension, MSI, pgs 72-73.
Guest guest
Michelle: Have you ever read the book " Spontaneous Remissions " ? There are so many things we just don't know about the nature of the healing process and how ailments interface with attitude. As a " science " research on the placebo effect and the mind-body connection are in their infancy. I have no doubts personally that most individuals are capable of this sort of remission; but the trick is, that this woman probably had an enormous amount of faith in her physician's opinion and diagnosis... note that she did not go for a second opinion and trusted his word, *even though he was lying to her*. These sorts of remissions occur sometimes with " faith healing " in religous context, as well... the person's belief in the " healer " or in God is so deep that something alchemical happens... a miracle. You can also see amazing " cures " of this type with all sorts of other treatments, from energy based therapies to MLM products to hypnosis. Most of us, unfortunately, carry so many doubts and fears that we don't have anyone (or anything) that we believe in to the degree that I would classify it as " blind faith " . I see these people as the 1% on the far end of the bell curve, the ones who have sudden and inexplicable absence of dis-ease from an intervention (or in this case, a well placed untruth). They make great testimonials for whatever it is they claim cured them, though... like the folks in the diet product ads who have lost half their body weight with the fine print beneath them, " results are atypical " ... Guest guest
On the other side of the coin. I have heard they are doing studies on quantum cellular memory. To find a correlation between a patient finding out they have say three months to live and them dying pretty much to the day on said date. Apparently it happens all too frequently. Psychic doctors or quantum cellular memory. It seems that our cells remember they are supposed to die in say three months then they do. doug Many people will walk in and out of your life, But only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. www.fabulosity.org - Michelle Hughes Monday, February 12, 2001 8:47 AM The Mind's Power Thought the list would appreciate this story.
