Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis) has many benefits for gynecological

complaints..menstrual cramps, irregularity, delayed flow, painful or

difficult flow, weakness, promotes blood circulation - I find Dong Quai is

usually used in combination with other " female " herbs... (I like, Dong Quai,

Wild Yam, Black Cohosh, Chaste Tree berry (Vitex), Licorice root, Damiana...)

The herbs, when working together can have a much more " balancing " effect on

the hormonal system, thus keeping estrogen and progesterone production

essentially balanced...there are so many contributors to excess estrogen in

the body ...from a sluggish liver not being able to break down the excess, to

the many additional sources..i.e.: foods that have hormones added to them

such as commercial meat, milk, eggs and dairy products - birth control pills

with high levels of estrogen, environmental toxins that mimic the actions of

estrogen (the largest source is pesticides), chronic constipation, which

interferes with the body's ability to eliminate estrogen properly; estrogen

then builds up in the colon and can be reabsorbed by the body - synthetic

estrogen supplements as part of a hormone replacement therapy for menopausal

symptoms.

So you see finding a balance is the main goal, here...whether it's lumps,

fibroids, growths, etc. There is much that can be done...so in answer to

your question, Yes, Dong Quai is a wonderful herb...I just find it can work

more effectively with some help...(don't we all!) Hope this helps!
