Guest guest
I'm so impressed with the non-defensive ways people on this list are dialoguing. We all have so much to learn and we all need our blindspots pointed out GENTLY from time to time. God bless! Celeste
Guest guest
Amen. The last thing we want to do is to place blame on someone for their dis-ease. We need to make very clear that taking responsibility is not the same as blaming. It means we don't have to take a passive approach when we are sick. We are all on a health curve and a learning curve. We, also, must take into consideration our inherited problems, the unhealthy environment we may live in (physical, emotional, mental, environmental, etc.) I think the emphasis, today, on the spiritual is so important because we have tended to discount that dimension in the past for the purely scientific approach. Throughout history, many " saints " have been plagued with less than perfect health and we all know less than saintly people who seem to have good health their entire lives. It is not simple to integrate all that is involved in optimum health. The idea of the mind-connection dialogue is important to me because, again, there was a disconnect in our thinking about it even though there was never a disconnect in reality. Semantics are so problematic, aren't they? That's why I value an opportunity to dialogue. It gives us a chance to clarify our thoughts and our language to better describe them. Again, God bless. Guest guest
Didn't mean to open a can of worms, here, with my mentioning Louise Hay. But I think she is a great teacher for those who are only just grasping the concept that our thoughts/feelings affect our lives...and what a large role negativity can play. I love Louise's work, and yet at the same time don't agree 100% with everything...but isn't that the way most things are? She and others like her, give us an opportunity to stop and consider that all our negative babble (and the people around us) has a profound effect over time. I recommend her book to those just " venturing " into the realm of natural healing...to help people realize they have more control over their lives than they think...Actually, that's why I joined this list, because I have also come to believe that our minds/hearts can handle pretty much any problem that we want to improve upon...from a physical health challenge, to relationship and/or prosperity issues. I may have also veered off the general concept of the list from time to time and appreciate the groups tolerance! ) Katy Master Herbalist

Guest guest
Dear Caroline How can I tell everybody about my new approach to therapy without being outcasted for spaming? I do have a site with articles, and I wish to share and enrich us all in more than one way. IMO it is good to have many ways suggesting healing as well as highlighting the bodymind issue. btw I find the herbaltalk enriching especially because I know so little about it. The need to have a pill to every ill is widespread and can be a major support in a change process so please don't cut it off. Guest guest
I'm wondering if mentioning EFA's was off-topic, it's similar to mentioning herbs. I think *everything* is part of us though, I don't think we can break off parts and exclude them. Some people have mentioned the Mind-Body connection, but there is no connection - they are all one, truly. There never was any disconnection, we just have put brain into one category and the rest of the body in another one, even though it's an organ like any other. The neurotransmitters used for thinking are actually throughout the body, not just in the brain. It'd be like calling it the Foot-Body connection. But we don't do that, we don't split the foot off from the rest of the body. I have the same feeling about Louise Hay - she's done great work and yet a lot of people have felt that it's put blame onto them. I doubt it was ever her intention for her work to be used this way, but I have seen people wounded from others around them who have used it to the extreme, telling the person that they just want this illness, further adding to their distress. We can change ourselves and our lives, but we are multi-faceted beings and often there are several areas of our lives that need to be addressed before complete healing can occur, it's not a simple quick answer, like so many people in our society want. I think this is a good thread because we can help people even more when we know how some of these teachings can be perceived, and help change that around for people who have felt they have been hurt by them.
