Dear Caroline,

I found your root chakra information very enlightening. May I ask a

question? I have tumors that began 20 years ago at the base of my spine.

During my treatment, I, synchronictically, was drawn and made aware of

kundalini for the first time. I had a strong positive emotional reaction

to it as when something has connected with something personally

significant. However, I have never been able to follow through with how

it was relevant in my situation, although I believe it is. I have

outlived my Drs. expectations, treatment has stabilized the tumors'

growth but they are still there as a future threat. Any information or

resources that you might have would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Celeste

This post is the beginning of the discussion we have talked about

regarding the energy centers or chakras. It was originally posted in

April 1999.

The Root or Base Chakra

Location: at the base of the spine and opens out between the legs in

the perineum, facing the ground.

Spinal Nerve Plexus: Coccygeal

Glands: Adrenals

Body Parts: Legs, Buttocks, Bones (structure & support)

Sanskrit Name: Muladhara

Element: Earth

Color Vibration: Red

Keynote Vibration: Middle C

Focus: Grounding, Safety and Survival

Stones: Red stones (garnet, ruby, etc)

Incense: Cedar

Foods: Proteins

Affirmations: I am Present, I am Safe, I am Thriving

Disorders: hemorrhoids, constipation/diarrhea, obesity, depression,

dissociation, attention deficit, clumsiness, bone disorders, sciatica,

knee problems, foot problems, failure to thrive, weakness, paranoia,

multiple personality, sociopathy

When we are well connected to the earth and our root chakra is

functioning properly, we feel secure, grounded, well connected to our

bodies and aware that we are alive. Some manifestations of a blocked

or malfunctioning root may be minor, such as clumsiness (repeated

injuries to knees and ankles, stubbing toes, for instance) and some

may be very severe, such as loss of moral filters (sociopathy) or bone

disorders like osteomalacia or osteoporosis. Obesity may be due to

subconscious attempts to ground through eating, or weight the body

down.

In order to keep the root healthy, it is important to focus on the

positive aspects of being alive and present in an incarnate body,

consume nutrients in a conscious way, and allow ourselves time and

privacy to eliminate properly. If clumsiness is a problem, paying

attention to the mechanics of movement may be useful; Tai Chi or

martial arts training, yoga or gymnastics can support the root.

Walking barefoot, sitting on the ground, and communing with nature are

all helpful to renew our attachment to the earth element, and wearing

the color red, especially as underwear or footwear, can assist in

grounding. When doing healing work with the root, music in the key of

C, along with red filtered light or red gemstones will support the

process.

I was interested to read the traditional Indian correspondances also

include animals. The " root animals " in that tradition are the

elephant, ox, and bull.

Ah... Noreen. The site is fine, but for some reason my signature program has

added all the " tilde's " to the end of it. I'll have to fix that :-)

My website is still http://www.geocities.com/nrgbalance

Hi Celeste:

Well, we've certainly had a lot of lively conversations about kundalini

around here lately. In my experience (I am not Hindu and though I practice

Yoga, mine is not an esoteric practice) the movement of energy upwards can

be stymied by a lot of things, including our personal filters... if you read

my posts yesterday you may have seen my remarks about attachments. That is

why, generally, in my opinion, most people experience the movement of

kundalini during a time when they are in a slight trance, such as during

meditation (sitting or moving), breathwork or an energywork session. For the

same reason, some people experience it during sex/orgasm, or even during

prayer (mystical ecstacy).

You can make an effort to consciously foster the opening and movement of

energy throughout your system. I'd encourage you to learn a daily practice

that is simple and enjoyable enough to become habit. Since you have

experienced a physical block at the base of your spine, you can use that as

a place to begin your focus. Remember that a " fractured bone " , once healed,

is even stronger! You can use some of the correspondences from the Root

chakra post to begin... things like color, sound and scent. Be open to

whatever you experience, and let go of any expectation that it will be like

anyone else's description (one good reason not to read too much paphernalia

about other people's experiences with energy rising... it creates an idea

that there is a " right " and " wrong " way).

If you decide to use a practice that has a " teacher " , you can ask what their

personal experience has been, but do not limit yourself to that, as yours

may be different. Use your Yoga instructor, Tai Chi sensei, Qi Gong master

or Meditation teacher as a guide for learning the process. You can also " go

it alone " with a practice of Self Reiki or other form of personal energy

work like Chakra Connection. Be patient with yourself and journal your

experiences and dreams.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask... there are a lot of

people of varied experience here.

Blessings,

Crow

Hi Anne-Louise:

Quite a bit of the correspondence information (the first part, and the

animals) is from Anodea Judith, and the first edition of her book " Wheels of

Life " . The rest comes from me, and the busy little guide that comes through

and writes for me occasionally on esoteric subjects. " He " doesn't have a

book, yet ;-)

Hello there...

I hate to be a pain, but would you be willing to forward on to me the other

corresponding emails you have on the other chakras? The one you sent out on

the root chakra was incredibly helpful to me (both in structure and

content)!

Thank you for your time and patience. If you can't (or would rather not)

forward the other information on no worries!

Joel thanks for reposting this! Last night, I started reading a book that

discussed Chakras and either I was tired or the book was written for those

who already have an understanding. :-)

Thanks Rainbow Crow woman for putting this together!

Hi All:

Well, thanks to some suggestions from my balancing half Mani, I am going to

be working on my chakra page so that it is not so graphic intensive and

takes so much time to load. I will be moving the gif for each chakra to its

respective page and changing the gate page to simple links to facilitate an

easier movement page to page.

I should have that completed in a day or two, especially if the big snow

they are predicting hits us here in Massachusetts <LOL>

I'll let you know when it's all set.

Blessings,

Crow
