Guest guest
Yes, it seems like antivirus day... Yes, if you get a post from " hahaha " it contains an actual virus, known formally as " Hybris " . No, you can't get it from opening the email. Don't open ANY unsolicited attachments (that " Snow White " thing is the most common one, but this thing can be an exe, a vbs, even a scr or a zip file). Delete it and throw it away. Here is the site at About.com regarding this pernicious critter (which, by the way, I continue to get at least once a week in my bulk email box where it has been filtered out): http://antivirus.about.com/compute/antivirus/library/virusinfo/blhybris.htm In addition, there is another, called MTX, or the Matrix virus. This one shows up as a completely blank email without sender, text or subject. I have seen this thing come through my email box as well. Once again, just delete it and ignore any attachments (a lot of these have pif extentions, as well as the typical exe and scr). Here is the info page on this one: http://antivirus.about.com/compute/antivirus/library/virusinfo/blmtx.htm And as always, yadda yadda, if you have a Mac, lucky you ;-) CYA, Caroline Spring must be coming, I can smell the mouldy scent of wasters creating new viruses in the compost heap...
