Guest guest
beautiful posts. Jim, the story with the girl - made me shiver. I would like to know what happens when the thoughts do not work. I experiences both cases - when they work and when reality like ignores them. 9 years ago i wanted the doctor of my husband to call us. he was a busy and special person. not the socializing type. I wanted him as a freiend . we have not been in touch with him for years. so i meditated a la silva and visualized him (eating, sitting in his kitchen, going to the phone... and calling us) 6 hours later - the phone rang. it was him. he wanted some help... and he wanted to come an visit us - as a friend - tyhe day after. it was a call " out of the blue " because he never called before. but: since then - i do not know how - it seems that a strong strange frightening bond occured. my husband became sick - and we started needing his services. so.... may be those forbidden thoughts - playing with the energies - trying to cause things happen - lead my husband to malady (diabetes)... what responsibility we have to think and want the right things... please share more. Guest guest
Anat: Why don't you think of it the other way around? Why couldn't you have sensed that your husband would be needing his doctor, and manifested his return into your lives in such a way that it was more natural for you to be interacting? I see that you tend to perceive the negative in things many times rather than looking at the positive aspects. Why do you think this is so? Is there something in your upbringing/religion that might be sending you these defeatist signals, telling you that what you are doing is " taboo " and therefore you are doomed to fail or be cursed by it? I ask this because I have met some wonderful people in the past who have carried the burden of early programming that prevented them from fully experiencing joy because they were always looking over their shoulders, waiting for the other shoe to fall. Rather than seeing the glass as half full, honoring their intuition, they saw the glass as half empty (oh, look, I must have made this bad thing happen). My maternal great-grandmother had this problem; she was very superstitious (I think she was psychic), and during the influenza epidemic at the turn of the last century, she had an impression, when the wind took a sheet from her hands as she was hanging laundry, that someone in her household was going to die. She had a sick husband and several sick children. She was very afraid that her husband would die, because at that time influenza was frequently fatal, and he was the breadwinner for their large family. She prayed that God spare him, and he lived, but one of her children died. Rather than honoring the original vision, she felt she had cursed her child with her prayer to spare her husband. God had given her the warning to prepare her that someone would die... He did not say who! My paternal grandfather had two sayings that stick in my mind; the first is, " Be careful what you ask for, because you may get it. " and the other was, " God said, 'take what you want... and pay for it.' " There is certainly balance in the universe, but I do not believe that when it comes to manifestation we are always dealing with the proverbial " monkey's paw " . I do think that if you ask for something, you should be prepared to receive it, as sometimes it happens so quickly and so profoundly that you can be overwhelmed! And then, there are those prayers that are answered in spirit, and the form is not what you imagined it would be, which can be even better than your wish on some level. I wanted to say to everyone, GREAT POSTS. I have been catching up with some things and was pleased and glad to see so many wise people spinning their tales for the group. Keep it up! Guest guest
Caroline Abreu thank you so much for your tales with your great grand-ma. it did sound familiar to me. and i'll check my self again . you are right about the programming and eduction etc... but you can't blame your parents and teachers till the end of life... an action is needed not whining and blaming and talking all the time.... you are very distinctive! i do live with kind of preparing for the next shoe to hit... - and i am missing the joy and happiness of the present. if you have any practical idea how to change this programming. i'll be glad to learn. thank you many blessings - Caroline Abreu <nrgbalance éåí øàùåï 25 îøõ 2001 23:55 Re: being carful with thoughts > Anat: > > Why don't you think of it the other way around? " Whew! I can attest to that! I asked for a move to the mountains and wham! Got a job offer within 30 miles of the city that I would have chosen to move near. Now all I have to do is somehow stay ahead of my overwhelmedness *and* make hundreds of decisions and plans and take millions of actions, in the next month and a half. That's all! I was NOT prepared!!!! Still feeling like I'm imobilized by the shock - and I've got to get myself in gear! Audrey
Guest guest
Audrey: That's the kind of stress I like to call " eustress " , or good stress, as opposed to " distress " , the other kind ;-) Congratulations on your new job, and good luck with getting it all together and remembering where you put it!!
