Guest guest
Hi Caroline, I appreciate your material on the chakras but don't understand what to do with it. I think there is certainly wisdom here that our culture has not uncovered. I have a very personal reason for this interest as I have multiple tumors in my spine from the cervical area to the sacral area. They have been stable for several years but have not disappeared. I am grateful for their stability, though, and I function reasonably well under the circumstances. However, I often wonder what I am missing in my total healing and wonder if the chakras may have anything to do with it. I'm open to any suggestions you might have. Thanks. Peace, Celeste
Guest guest
Hi Crow, Thanks for the wonderful suggestions. Many of them I have done and I do believe they have helped. I have had the very best doctors, I attended Bernie Siegel workshops and listened to his and others tapes, attended healing retreats and had prayer with the laying-on-of-hands (I suspect this must be called quantum healing these days). I never felt comfortable seeing my tumors as an enemy or a friend but just that they were there. I never felt like fighting them and prepared myself for whatever lay ahead. I really prepared myself for death and went through a grieving process. I have to say that even though the physical experience was grueling for a long time, the spiritual-psychological experience was most positive. A new life-direction evolved and is still evolving that I doubt would have evolved otherwise. However, I do suspect that although some energy has been released, there is still blocked energy that I need to learn to free. Your suggestions help me to see where I can refocus my visualizations. Sure, I would love any visualizations you might have. Thanks again, Crow. Celeste
Guest guest
This is the sixth in the series discussion regarding the energy centers or chakras. The Third Eye or Brow Chakra Location: Mid forehead in the front, occipital region of the head in back. Spinal Nerve Plexus: Carotid plexus Glands: Pineal (some sources say Pituitary, with Pineal at Crown) Body Parts: Eyes Sanskrit Name: Ajna Element: Light Color Vibration: Indigo, or varyingly, Purple Keynote Vibration: A Focus: Sight, insight, intuition, vision, focus, sense of humor Stones: lapis lazuli, quartz, sodalite, azurite Incense: jasmine, mint, mugwort, star anise Foods: mind altering substances of plant origin Affirmations: I see. My vision is clear. I perceive. I use my imagination for positive, creative purposes. Disorders: Visual distortions and disorders, mental illness, hysteria, poor sense of humor, lack of imagination or conversely overimagination, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, hypochondriasis In order to keep the brow chakra functioning well, it is a good habit to practice " childlike thinking " , opening the self to the beauty of detail as well as the magical aspects of all things. Appreciation of art, especially the aspects of symbols, form, texture, color and shape is one way to open the third eye; utilization of an object for contemplative meditation has ancient roots. Look for the humor in self and the surrounding world; our sense of humor is related to our natural response to the unexpected, insightful truths and a way to let go of anxiety related to fear (it is hard to be afraid of something we can laugh at!) Practice creating a dream journal to define personal symbols and issues. Explore activities that have a hypnotic effect on you, such as reading, watching an object spin, blink or swing, or a nature video with the sound turned off (replace it with classical music or appropriate nature sounds instead of verbal narration). The brow deals with higher goals and idealism; when the brow is out of balance it can cause a hyperfocus on ideals, resulting in pendantic or fanatic behavior, or conversely, confusion and a tendency to grasp at a multitude of ideas without commitment. For physical disorders of the eyes, there are Ayurvedic eye exercises to change the shape of the eye itself (useful for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism). Eating foods that are rich in beta carotene and other antioxidants are supportive of the eyes. Schizophrenia is a problem with filtering input and poor grounding. ADD and ADHD are problems with focus. In both cases, structuring a personal schedule and learning to express and accept input that may be inexplicable (such as " hallucinations " or " visions " ) is useful, along with developing a good regular practice of healthy grounding. Cataracts represent " clouding of vision " and meditative work with the affirmation " my vision is clear " as well as visualizing the clouding of the eye dispersing can help improve the disorder. Deeper work might include meditating on what the eye is trying to protect the self from seeing. Glaucoma represents " pressure to see " , and it is interesting that one of the plant-based hallucinogens, cannabis, reduces the pressure in the eyes in Glaucoma. The affirmation " soft eyes see " is helpful here. Some disorders in this area have to do with the imagination... such as hypochondriasis and hysteria. While it is useful to have an active and healthy imagination, like the ego, there should be some natural boundaries to it since we have to function healthily in society. Hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, and to a lesser degree overactive imagination can be destructive if not examined and only given the amount of energy they deserve in attention. For a person whose mind tends to " run away " with them, escalating into colorful scenarios of destruction and disease or conversely, fantastical and unrealistic plans, grounding is useful to keep them " on track " as these behaviors are distracting and may prevent the person from accomplishing anything at all. Offer positive reinforcement for completing goals, no matter how small, to help them reorient and refocus. Animal associated with the brow chakra in East Indian tradition is the owl. I'm adding a little song you may remember for the Brow: (Lyrics by D. Pomeranz) IT'S IN EVERY ONE OF US It's in every one of us to be wise, Find your heart, open up both your eyes We can all know everything, without ever knowing why. It's in every one of us, by and by. It's in every one of us to be free. Find your Self, open your eyes and see. We can all have everything, without ever knowing how. It's in every one of us, here and now. Guest guest
Hi Celeste: You may not be missing anything at all. Although I would be the first person to tell you that all healing is self healing, there are times when we cannot heal ourselves " alone " . That is one reason I would never discourage a person from seeking the assessment and care of a trained professional. Here we go... imagine you are the captain of an oil tanker that grounds itself, causing a great oil spill. Ah. Well, even though you may have been responsible on some level for the accident and its results, it is doubtful you can perform the clean up by yourself. That is the way it is sometimes. Another example... a woman gets busy in her home and forgets something in the oven; the resulting fire is damaging to her home. Perhaps she can learn not to leave her cooking unattended, but it is not likely she can repair the house alone. Visualization and affirmations tap into a deep part of our being, our subconscious mind; in that space, we can move forward and backward in time, our imagination can run freely, and we are not limited by the critical factors of our conscious mind from seeing ourselves functioning ideally to our capacity and beyond. It is the subconscious mind that kicks in when a woman picks up a car, saving her child. It is the subconscious that is tapped into with hypnosis and with creative guided visualization that has been very effective, especially with children in cancer treatment. I found a quote that fits with this... " We are not what we think we are, but what we think, we are. " Christian Humphries There are two " schools " of approach with something like a tumor... one is to combat it like an enemy, and the other is to love it to death. When I was teaching Pathophysiology, I explained the method of mutation in neoplasms like this... due to shock, injury or abuse, a cell becomes damaged and does not develop properly as it should. As it reproduces, it teaches its children to behave like it does, rather than the other cells around them. After a while, there is an entire community of " dysfunctional " cells, who either choose to group together as a tumor, or spread out through the body via the blood and lymph, causing metastasis. They continue to feed off the system, though they are no longer serving any useful purpose to the system. So, how do we approach a rogue cell who is caught in the cycle of dysfunctional behavior? How do we break the cycle? What would we do if those cells were people? For me, the answer is not retribution but love, forgiveness and discipline. The cells can be retrained, rehabilitated within a few generations, by providing an environment of peace, understanding and care. If a tumor must be removed because it is causing pressure on an organ or loss of function, bless that tumor and say goodbye to it, just like you would if it was any other part of your body being removed. The cells in your body do not live forever; they are constantly being renewed. That means that a tumor is probably not even composed of the same cells that initially created it, but generations of its progeny who do not even know why they are doing what they are doing any more. They are your body's welfare families ;-) Creative visualization in this case would be aimed towards tapping your subconscious in such a way that you could create a dialogue with your misbehaving cells like you would with unruly children, offering them love, structure, and teaching them how to be normal and productive to the system again. If they have never had that instruction, they will continue to produce cells as abnormal as they are. I recall my father talking about career criminals and rehabilitation... " How can a man be re-habilitated, when he has never been habilitated in the first place? " In other words, how can a man be made into a man, if he does not know what being a man is. A stable tumor is like a man in prison; he isn't out committing crimes, but he is probably not improving his lot much, either. As the " CEO " of your body's business, the Mother Goddess of your personal planet, you can be proactive in teaching those cells how they should behave. In conjunction with other treatments you are doing, you may find that your cells will desire to realign themselves once they know how. If you have any questions about specific wording for visualizations or affirmations aimed towards this goal, feel free to ask.
