Yes, Cross Crawl is a part of Brain Gym activities - the beginning PACE

section. I just attended a workshop on Brain Gym at the ASCD -

Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development - a big educational

conference geared for mostly principals and superintendents. Brain Gym is

used in many schools in Australia and the Netherlands and is just picking

up interest in the US. It is basically a series of physical activities

that help to balance your body - polarity balancing. They are also known

as Edu-K or Educational Kinesthesiology. It develops the neural pathways

through specific movements.

Cross crawl is easy - You lift your left knee up to touch your right elbow

and then switch - right knee up to touch your left elbow.. and do it for a

few minutes. It's about balancing the two sides of your brain. Many people

immediately feel a difference by doing these simple activites, especially

hyperactive kids and persons with ADD.

They use Brain Gym here in New Zealand.....educational kineseology. When my

son was 8 he had problems in reading and after seeing someone who

specialised in e.k. and given a few exercises to switch on parts of his

brain that he wasn't using he took off with his reading and ended up in the

top reading group within the year. Apparently he was only hearing the words

and not visualising them in his mind.
