Guest guest
Hi Folks-- As a newcomer to this group, I wanted to say hello and post this quote from Alfred Tomatis, for those of you who haven't yet seen it: " ...this breath of life which breathes in each one of us is what one basically calls freedom. In biology it's called Life, in affectivity it's called Love, in psychology it's called Consciousness, and in theology it's called God. The difficulty is to bring these all together within everyone's understanding. " --Alfred Tomatis (from an interview with Tim Wilson entitled " Chant: The Healing Power of Voice and Ear, " which appeared in Music: Physician for Times to Come, an anthology compiled by Don Campbell). One of the main mediators of the Body/Mind connection is obviously our breath. In the April issue of the Well-Being section (which also includes some quotes by me) of Los Angeles Magazine, Andrew Weil is quoted as saying that 80 percent of the population breathes incorrectly without realizing it. From my perspective, that percentage may actually be too low. In any event, it's clear that poor breathing has a powerful impact on our health as well as on our overall " sense of ourselves, " our energies, how we relate to others, and much else. I hope that some of us will want to discuss this crucial subject as time goes on. With my best wishes, Dennis Lewis http://www.authentic-breathing.com
