Guest guest
LOL... Crow on display, today only <LOL> It will probably amuse you to discover that my Chinese Astrological sign is the Rabbit, which is very similar to Libra in attributes. (I have had my Astrological chart done a couple of times, but not really understanding all the trines and cardinals and et ceteras and so forths, all I could really tell is that my planets are heavilly focused in Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio.) My husband is a Gemini Ox. If you're into Chinese signs, I'd like to find out why some charts have Rabbits, while others have Cats in that position. I picked up one of those kitschy little Globe books at the grocery checkout one day on " Indian Love Signs " or some such, basically supposed to be a Native astrological sign (more of a moon sign than a sun sign). According to that, once again, I'm a Crow ;-) Is there some sort of " pattern " to zodiac v. Chinese sign? I'd be curious to hear about it :-) A " Saggitarius Tiger " sounds like a very honest and bold individual! Guest guest
Hi Anat, To help you check the " patterns " , here is my sign info... Sun sign, Taurus with Scorpio rising and moon in Leo. Chinese sign, Rooster. Crow, that " Indian Love Signs " sounds interesting, too. If you happened to have saved the book, I'd be interested in the similarities of the signs. Love those little checkout counter books :-) Caroline Abreu wrote: > LOL... Guest guest
Jane: Oh, my, the old brain cells are better off than I thought they were... I found the " mini mag " on my first look-see through the piles. It says here that you are an " East " sign as a Taurus, and that the dates for that (April 20 - May 20) corresponds to the BEAVER. If you're outside those dates let me know ;-) My " first love " was a Leo Rooster... what a little banty he was! <LOL> I'll adapt the text for Beavers for you: Beavers are born in the spring, under the " Frogs Return " Moon. Their plant totem is blue camas (a type of lily) and their mineral totem is chrysocolla and turquoise. Their color is blue. They are resiliant, hardworking and stable; if change is called for they can pick up and start all over again. They are friendly and loyal. Their weaknesses are tendencies to stubborness and rigid thinking, but that can be adapted as orderliness and good organizational skills. They mate for life and make good mates and parents, but can " dam up " their feelings and they insist on teamwork. They are introspective, and water is a good place for renewal and pleasure. Beavers are " Turtle Clan " , which I think corresponds to the earth signs in astrology [the clan also includes Snow Goose (Capricorn) and Brown Bear (Virgo)] What fun. Guest guest
Ah, Crow, thanks so much for writing that up for me. And it is 'on target'! I'm a May 17th Taurus. I remember thinking one time how all the animals that come to me seemed so 'inelegant' :-) Bulls, Roosters and now Beaver. Once I was fooling around with Medicine Cards to find my power animal and, you can guess it, came out Turkey. I thought, oh gheez, where are all the awesome ones? But then I read the description for the honored Turkey. Now I know they are all elegant in their teaching ways. Nice to know that you have those " piles " in your house, too. Whatever would we do without the " piles " of our " important " stuff :-) Caroline Abreu wrote: > > Jane: > > Oh, my, the old brain cells are better off than I thought they were... Guest guest
Jane: I've had people ask me if they could call me something else, because they hated crows. Personally, I have come to feel a little defensive of corvines ;-) Every animal has its own special gifts, and some of them are very unexpected. When I do a retrieval for someone or guide a retrieval journey for a group, people are inevitably surprised if they didn't get the fancy totems, the eagles, bears, wolves, etc. But I have never seen a person get a totem that did not offer them something valuable that they needed at that moment to work with. In many cases it can be a lifetime alliance, but in others an animal comes along for a short time to help someone get a leg over an issue. When I took Soul Retrieval, for instance, we each had a Retrieval with our teacher, and many of the fragments that she brought back for me required " mother work " as I reintegrated them. Along with the bits and pieces of me, she retrieved a wonderful, warm, female brown bear to support me with some fierce mother energy. The power animal of " Grandfather " , the Apache guide who mentored Tom Brown the tracker, was the chickadee. I know a man whose helper is a wolverine, and another whose helper is a mole. Yet another is an armadillo (excellent medicine for a person with poor boundaries). Once I did a retrieval for a woman who was having great difficulty multitasking in her busy life, and was pretty burnt out and frazzled, feeling unfocused and unable to get a handle on anything. Her power animal turned out to be an octopus! One of my favorite totems is the skunk, the medicine of personal reputation; unless they are foolish, most creatures respect the skunk by its reputation, and it seldom has to defend itself. I think that is pretty powerful medicine! Have you done a medicine wheel layout with the cards? It is interesting to see how different animals can support aspects of you in different ways. Once again, I got a doozy as my " center " animal... the badger! <LOL> Blessings, Crow >Jane Berrigan <reikiskhm > > >Re: Birth Signs >Tue, 10 Apr 2001 16:28:26 -0400 > >Ah, Crow, thanks so much for writing that up for me. Guest guest
Crow (and others), I am interested in seeking a teacher/mentor/guide for the sprit work I feel I need to do. At the same time, I'm afraid. Afraid of this, afraid of that, mostly afraid that I'll be The Fool. I was ridiculed for what I believed and wanted so much, when growing up - I still carry that around, Big Time. I seem to be wanting to ask two things; How do I find, and know they are, the *right* teacher; how do I get past this judgemental booby trap of the things I want? Guest guest
Audrey: I think you are particularly brave and self aware to recognize your fear, and some possibilities of where it comes from. That is a good beginning to making a peace treaty with it. Tonight hubby and I watched the old " Kung Fu " movie, and I was impressed with one of the quotes from the Master regarding destiny and failure... basically saying that, succeed or fail, we are doing what we are supposed to be doing. When Cain's son asks how long it will take to learn the ways of the Shaolin, Cain replies that it will only take a lifetime... perhaps a little longer ;-) That isn't comfortable to hear, especially for us folks who were reared to expect perfection in ourselves. We procrastinate and we avoid because we are afraid, as you admitted, to look foolish, to be less than perfect. Well, the fact is, we are all imperfect, and we are all fools. But we can be holy imperfect fools! <LOL> Have you ever examined the major arcana of the Tarot? Another term used for the cards in the deck is " The Fool's Journey " ... each card, from The Fool to The World, represents a step along a path, a path that leads right back to the starting point again. As the Buddhists say, before enlightenment, draw water, sweep floor. After enlightenment, draw water, sweep floor. The best way to begin searching for a teacher is not to look for a teacher, but to prepare yourself to learn. Everyone around you can teach you, and there are no lack of guides and angels. Stop looking for great epiphanies and appreciate the everyday miracles; cease your expectations, and your disappointment will cease also. When you least expect it, like love, your mentor will appear in your life; not from your effort, but because of your readiness. " You belong to the Divine. You think Divine will not take care of your pleasure and will not take care of your concerns and your desires? Let go of these. When you could let go---then you blossom. Guest guest
Dear Crow, Thank you for your gentle wisdom. It's good to be reminded. Most of what you said, I already know. I certainly get impatient though. And forgetful. I wound up with my {magic} partner by not looking, but by being who I wanted to be and contemplating the kind of relationship I wanted. That's what I remind others when they dispair of finding love. It figures that that is how to bring other things into my life that will be right. It's hard to take your own advice. I knew Someone would point out the [tarot] Fool. :-) Thank you, Audrey , " Caroline Abreu " <nrgbalance@h...> wrote: " [snip]...asks how long it will take to learn the ways of the Shaolin, Cain replies that it will only take a lifetime... perhaps a little longer [snip] The best way to begin searching for a teacher is not to look for a teacher, but to prepare yourself to learn.
