Guest guest
Hi Deb: A value of 5 is extremely low for REM... I had a sleep study in August of last year, and my REM was considered " mildly deficient " at 15.3%... not exactly a wonderful score, if you ask me. Well, this is the deal... what did they diagnose your daughter with? Does she have sleep apnea, or some other sleep disorder? Sleep apnea is serious, but definitely treatable. I am using a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine at night to keep my airways open; I don't snore any more (wonderful) and I feel better generally. Many people who have sleep apnea report " REM rebound " , with a subsequent increase in their ability to concentrate and improvement of mood. When I had my second sleep study, with a CPAP, in October, my REM percentage went up to 29.2%... it basically doubled. My MD eschews medications unless they are absolutely necessary; he believes that with CPAP, my blood pressure will decrease, and since my endurance has improved along with my REM and my mood, I am able to do more yoga and walking and less napping. Imagine; no medications, just a reversed vacuum cleaner strapped to my nose at night. Not that difficult to live with considering the alternatives ;-) It is a well known form of ancient torture to keep someone awake until they become delusional; we must have dreams to function properly mentally, and we must have deep sleep for our bodies to process nutrients properly. Long term effects of sleep disorders can include hypertension, heart problems, depression, and metabolic disorders such as tissue resistance to hormones, leading to thyroid problems and even diabetes. I have some sleep disorder links if you are interested; it would be interesting to hear the rest of her percentages for her sleep phases as well. Does she have restless legs or sleep walk? Guest guest
Hello Crow, Thank you so much for your information, it makes a lot of sense to me and sort of rings true with some of the symptoms to this disorder and believe that there is something to this dream state and sleep apnea with Prader-Willi. I would love to have some of the sleeping disorder sites you have. I would like to look into this more deeply. I have another question for you if you don't mind. My son, his syndrome, it is missing part of the 15th chromosome or it doesn't line up right. The defective gland is the hypothalamus gland but I believe all of them are defective as well. He doesn't produce growth hormones as a normal child will. He will be very short with small hands and small feet. I believe there are certain things to do to stimulate these glands in the body to function properly and it is going to be more than one thing. But I think it has to do with the spiritual side and energy. I was wondering if there was anything you might think of trying to stimulate these glands in the body. Nobody has really done this sort of thing with the PWS and energy really. Also, do you know of how you could work and heal past lives with a 4 year old who doesn't quite understand things? Any suggestions would be grateful, I am willing to try anything for him, but conventional healing. Thanks....Debbie
Guest guest
LOL Debbie: Well, what I hear you saying is, that if conventional healing is the only way to take care of his problems, then they are not going to get taken care of? <G> Common toe that folks like to step on around here; don't throw the baby out with the bath water! Now, lecture done, as you were... Yes, it is possible to do past life work with children. They understand more than you think. Children are very receptive to hypnosis and have little problem remembering pre-birth memories even without it. There is a " point " at which children begin to actively forget, and your son is reaching that stage, which is normal. We are not meant to live out one life dwelling on our past lives, that is one reason why we forget them. This life is for living right now. If your son could recall a past life issue that might have precipitated his decision to come in with this particular kind of genetic disorder, are you hoping that it will resolve his karma and rearrange his genetic code? Even if that is possible, that may not be the best way for him to deal with his karma, and it is questionable whether at his age he would understand the full implications of releasing such a major life lesson. More than likely, his higher self would reject any information that would be traumatic for him to recall at this point, including any agreements he might have made regarding this disorder. In addition, if he chooses to " skip " a lesson, he may find the next lesson is even less comfortable than the deferred one. This happens to us all the time. That is not to say that regression is not a good tool for working with children, but they have not fully developed their energy systems and may have coping problems such as self-blame that irrationally persist. There is nothing wrong with supporting his growth and development to its fullest potential, and you can do that with affirmations, hypnosis for reducing stress and optimizing body function, encouraging healthy exercise and relaxation so that he is friends with his body. His soul is beautiful and perfect, and that must be supported in order for him to accept and love himself. If he begins to see himself as " broken " or in need of " fixing " he can't really ever feel whole. It is your time to play more than a mother for him, since you are aware; you need to meditate (an excellent time would be while he is napping) and have your higher self ask his higher self how you can best serve him and help him with his lessons in an appropriate, safe and comfortable way. Pay attention. If his higher self tells you to lay off, that is what you should do ;-) But what he needs may be simpler than you think. We also need to be clear that we do not know, really, what the lesson is, or even who the lesson is *for*... is it for him? For you? For some future mate or companion? For the time being, suspend your anxiety about repairing your son and spend your time enjoying him and providing energy for his system to use as it sees fit. When his psyche has developed more he may choose to concentrate on his personal spiritual issues in more depth of his own volition.
